"I'm pretty excited about getting things started. Camp has been good and the team has worked hard getting ready for the start of the season. We don't have two-a-days, but get an early start at about 7 in the morning and then get finished between 11 and 12."
With schools starting on Wednesday, Pike is ready to get back to a normal routine.
"We start school tomorrow and I'm ready to get back and get into the flow of things. This summer has been a blessing, but the more offers I picked up the more crazy it became. The past few weeks have been peaceful with us being in practice."
While everyone will be watching how Zeke does at quarterback, he knows the night is not going to be an easy one, as he'll pull double duty also starting as an outside linebacker on defense.
While Zeke has placed recruiting on the back burner, he knows people will be watching his development as the year progresses. One school that is sure to take interest is Notre Dame.
"I've not really had much conversation with Notre Dame since camp, but I also know I'm in the 2012 class and the coaches were going on vacation after camp, so it is early. We'll see what happens in a few months and go from there."
While a lot of attention will be given to Pike, he stresses football is a team game and he is blessed to have solid teammates helping him reach his and the teams goals.
As for the schools that have offered Zeke is sure of a few things.
"I want the chance to play quarterback at the next level. If I go to a school and I'm not good enough, I will have no problem making a switch to another position. But I do want a realistic chance in the beginning. When the time comes, I'll trust God in what happens."
IrishEyes.com will be on hand Friday night with a full report on the performance of Zeke Pike.
