Anton Narinskiy is a player to watch from Kenston High School in Chagrin Falls, OH. Narinskiy hails from Russia and is a very good athlete as he is a standout wrestler in addition to football. He played LB for the first time last year and projects there for college. He is also an excellent student. We recently had a chance to catch up with him and find out more.
Describe your game.
I played linebacker for the first time this past year and had to learn fast. I love having the opportunity to be involved in every play and be a key factor in games. My reading of the play could still improve much more since playing only one year doesn't get the natural reading instincts down right away. Yet I go fast and hard to the ball, and enjoy filling holes and making tackles. My coach says I am fast in the open and scrape well.
At tight end, I like blocking a lot and most of the time get the job done. I get quick key passes in games, and it usually takes a few guys to bring me down.
What is your current height, weight and 40-time?
Ht. 6'4" Wt. 225 lbs 40 time: 4.6
Have you played different positions?
Yes, freshman year - I played running back and switched around on every position on the defensive line.
Sophomore year - I started every game at Offensive Tackle, and started many and rotated in a lot at Defensive End.
Junior year - I started each game at linebacker and tight end/wide receiver.
What position would you like to play in college?
I would probably prefer linebacker.
Do you have any favorites right now?
What schools have been contacting you the most?
Do you have any offers or has someone said they would offer?
No school has gone out and said they would offer me yet.
What camps did you go to last year and which ones would you like to go to this year?
Have you been to any campuses so far?
What are some schools that aren't contacting you that you'd like to hear from?
Ohio State and Michigan.
What will be the most important criteria for you in choosing a school?
The school's football program and education would be the most important. I would also look at the campus, the overall atmosphere and people. I would also like to stay somewhat near home.
What are some of the things you like to do away from football, such as hobbies or activities in school?
Mainly I like to work out, lift and run and try to improve upon the previous week's lifts. I am always competing in some sports with friends, like basketball games and such. In school, I am in the math club, and a national math club called Mu Alpha Theta.
Do you have a favorite NFL player? If so, who?
Probably Brian Urlacher. I love the way he plays, intense and hard, never stops running, always trying to get to the ball.
When do you think you might decide?
Anytime I get a good enough choice and discuss it with my parents and coaches.
