We got together with Anthony Morelli to discuss his thoughts on recruiting (in general) and about the Buckeyes (in particular).
Morelli is considered one of the country's top quarterback prospects and, yes, Ohio State has already offered the Pennsylvania flame-thrower. "I also have offers from Pitt, Purdue, Michigan, Indiana, UCLA, Penn State, West Virginia, Virginia, Iowa and Cincinnati. I think there's more - I'm probably leaving someone out".
With all the great in-state Ohio quarterbacking talent this year, you have to think that Morelli must be pretty special to get such an early offer from the Buckeyes (and all the other top-tier programs). "Coach Daniels came to visit me here at my high school. Right after that, he sent me a letter with an offer from Ohio State."
Do the Buckeyes have a chance at Anthony? "I grew up a Buckeye fan. I don't know why, but I've watched them since I was a little kid. I will definitely visit OSU and I doubt I will make any decision without weighing what they have to offer."
Anthony is 6'4" and 210 pounds and says he runs a 4.7 forty. He is proud of his weight lifting and benches a very impressive 300 pounds. He quickly added, "I can do 185 pound reps 20 times". Big numbers for a quarterback.
Last year, Morelli was 78-148 with 1880 yards and 21 touchdown passes to go along with 9 interceptions.
So should we expect an early commitment from Anthony Morelli? "I would like to take all my visits and Ohio State will be one of them. But there's a chance I could commit (somewhere) before the season starts and get it over with."
