Longo To Leave Program

The Ohio State offensive line has lost one member as Sam Longo has asked for his release from the team. BuckeyeSports.com has more.

Ohio State redshirt freshman Sam Longo has asked for and been granted his release from the university, a spokesperson confirmed Thursday.

The reasons for his decision were not immediately known. The 6-5, 280-pound offensive lineman did not appear on the team's final depth chart prior to the Sugar Bowl and was not afforded a profile among the updated biographies of the Buckeyes included in the final release before the game.

A former three-star recruit from Bellbrook, Ohio, Longo was rated the No. 15 overall prospect from Ohio and the No. 23 offensive tackle in the nation for the class of 2009. After taking a redshirt during his first season, Longo is listed as having seen action in one game this year, appearing in mop-up duty against Eastern Michigan.

BuckeyeSports.com will have more on the situation as it develops.
