The four-star prospect is currently ranked as the number-ten defensive tackle in the country, although he is versatile enough to play several different positions for Ohio State. Farris has the athleticism and power to also play strongside defensive end, while there is a school of thought that he could make an excellent offensive tackle.
What first sticks out about Farris is that he has a college-ready body, and is an impressive physical specimen. With his frame, there is the distinct possibility that he could eventually play in the 300-pound range, while still keeping his athleticism.
"A two way standout for his Elyria team, Farris plays right tackle and defensive end. He has good size and the frame to approach 300 pounds before his college career is over. He lacks the change of direction of an elite defensive player and may be better suited for the offensive side of the ball full time. He plays with good leverage and strength. Needs to use his hands better to keep opponents from getting into his chest." - Scott Kennedy-Scout.com.
Farris on his future:
The only question in his mind is what position the Buckeyes are recruiting him for, and he intends to discuss that matter with the Ohio State coaching staff in the near future.
"I really have no idea what position they are recruiting me for, and I will be talking to Coach Johnson about that," he stated. "I've talked to them about everything else, but my position. I know I'm a good defensive player, but I know they have taken two defensive ends already, and that's where I see myself playing in college. I could probably play defensive tackle, if I put on more weight. On offense, I could play tight end, but I don't really see myself getting big enough to play offensive tackle."
"Right now, I'm 6-foot-6, 265-pounds, and a lot of the great tackles are taller and a lot heavier than I am," he said. "I just have to find out what they're looking for from me, and where they see me contributing to their team. I think my academic record, combined with my athletic ability, is getting me all these offers. I take my schoolwork very seriously."
