AAU season is now going hot and heavy and the OSU staff is working overtime to secure the first commitments in the four-man class of 2004. Bucknuts has learned that a few of our prime targets at the post positions are due in to Columbus in the very near future:
MATT TERWILLIGER (Troy, OH, HS)--- This 6-9 power forward prospect is due in on the weekend of May 9 for his official visit with the Buckeyes. Terwilliger has been in to see the OSU staff numerous times unofficially, but this is reported to be his last wave of visits before he decides on a school. Notre Dame and Cincinnati are also receiving heavy consideration.
Terwilliger's athleticism and ball skills make him a natural fit at the 4-position for the Buckeyes. He is a top 100 recruit on at least one analyst's charts and is widely held to be one of the top 3 players in the state of Ohio for 2004.
SETH GORNEY (Vandalia, OH, Butler HS)--- The 6-11, 240 pound Gorney is a candidate for the 5 position and will be in town the weekend of May 16 for his official visit. Like Terwilliger, Gorney has visited the campus and staff several times on an unofficial basis and has a high familiarity with what OSU has to offer. Gorney is also receiving heavy interest from the likes of Dayton, Iowa, and Pittsburgh.
Gorney is more of a traditional back-to-the-basket type of player and is widely held to be one of the top 5 players in the state. In case fans are wondering, Terwilliger and Gorney are not in competition for the same scholarship slot---- OSU would clearly welcome both, as each fills a need (the 4 and the 5) in 2004.
There is a strong likelihood that more prospects will be taking official visits later this month and early next month. Stay tuned to Bucknuts for all the latest info on recruits as it is confirmed!
