Friday, August 5
The Ohio State football team was ranked No. 11 in the initial USA Today coaches poll. The Columbus Dispatch, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Chicago Sun-Times and Lorain Morning Journal have stories on the rankings.

The OSU football program announced some coaching staff reshuffling on Thursday, naming Dick Tressel the special teams coordinator and Paul Haynes the co-defensive coordinator. Tressel and Haynes will also remain the team's running backs and safeties coaches, respectively. The Dispatch and Plain Dealer have the details.

The Big Ten announced that the league will have nine conference football games beginning in 2017. The Dispatch and Plain Dealer have the story.
