Recruiting Updates - Turner, Hoke

We have two more updates today... QB Anthony Turner and LB Anthony Hoke.

LB/DE Anthony Hoke from Warren Harding is a sackmaster on the field. Recruiting is starting to pick up as the 6-1, 226 pounder (4.7 40) is getting looks from the Big Ten schools.

"Michigan State wants me to come up so they can take a look. They're recruiting me for what they call their Bandit position (SS/LB combo)," he said. "I just talked to the coach at Buffalo right before you called; they're recruiting me as a LB. Indiana has offered. West Virginia came in (Tuesday) to see me run track; I run the 4x100 and throw shot and discus."

Where will Hoke play this year?

"I will play DE, but depending on the set, I could play some LB," he said.

Anthony is still sorting out what camps he'll be at this summer.

"I know we are going to Ohio State and West Virginia for camps and there may be some other ones we go to," he said.

Right now, Anthony is bench pressing 335 and squatting 510. When asked what five schools he'd take official visits to now if he had to choose, he gave four.

"Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State," he said. "I don't have a fifth school."

Anthony is in no hurry to decide.

"If I did make a decision early it would be because of the school, but I am going to wait and look at my options."

Meanhwile, we recently caught up with Dayton Chaminade-Julienne head coach Jim Place for an update on QB Anthony Turner. Coach Place says that the schools of interest include Nebraska, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Iowa, and Ball State, and all those schools have offered except Ohio State. Coach Place says every school is looking at him, but test scores are holding things up.

Anthony was measured at 6-2 1/2, 215 and 4.6 at the Nike Camp in Michigan, and Coach Place says Anthony is open to any school right now. Turner wants to be recruited as a QB although he couold possibly change his mind in the future. Anthony has no plans to camp anywhere this summer.
