Recruiting Update - Jimmy Calhoun

Middletown's Jimmy Calhoun recently made his way up to Ann Arbor Nike Camp. He stood in at 6-0, 200 pounds and ran a 4.57 40. Jimmy is getting a lot of attention, but no offers so far.

"I'm getting a lot of letters, but I don't have any offers yet," he said.

Jimmy is known as a RB, but at least one school – Boston College – is considering him as an athlete.

"A couple of schools (are recruiting me) as an athlete," he said. "Everyone else is recruiting me as a running back… It doesn't matter to me where I play but I haven't played defense since eighth grade. Once you play something, it will come back to me quickly. It's like riding a bike."

He will have a very busy summer as in addition to going to acceleration camp in June, he will be camping all over the place.

"I'm camping at Miami (OH), Northwestern, Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Florida," he said.

So what is Jimmy looking for in a school? A good team atmosphere and a football family are a couple, but there is one main factor.

"Strictly academics, that's #1," he said. "You don't know how long your football career is going to be. You've got to be prepared."

"I'm not sure about my major," he said. "It's either going to be business or law. I might major in one and minor in the other."

Right now, Jimmy's top five are Northwestern, Ohio State, Florida, Penn State, and Notre Dame. He might not wait too long to pick one.

"I'm thinking I want to get it over with," he said.
