Recruiting Update - Mike Maciejowski

Upper Arlington QB Mike Maciejowski is getting some heavy attention from big-time programs. Duane Long has an update.

A name we haven't mentioned much in the past few months is Upper Arlington QB Mike Maciejowski. The son of ex-Buckeye Ron Maciejowski is looking like a name to add to your memory banks though as he is getting attention from some big time schools.

"Notre Dame has come into the school as has Ohio State and Michigan," Mike said. "BC has been in recently. I'm going to camp there."

The representatives from these schools aren't just any representatives as ND head coach Tyrone Willingham stopped in to see Mike as did OSU head coach Jim Tressel. Mike is a player who could see his offer list rise in the coming weeks, and one just came the other day.

"Minnesota called and offered (Wednesday)," he said. "Akron said they will offer in the next two weeks."

Mike lists his measurements at 6-3, 210 and 4.62 in the 40. One school he likes is Notre Dame, and he has already been up there this year.

"I went to the Notre Dame junior day," he said. "There were only 30 of us there. It was pretty impressive, and Tyrone Willingham was very impressive."

In addition to Boston College, Mike plans on camping back here in the Midwest.

"I'm also going to the Ohio State senior camp," he said. "I was going to Penn State but I'm going to cancel that because it's the same day as Notre Dame. I like Notre Dame better."

Mike, who threw for 1800 yards last year and 21 TDs with only 6 INTs, has had a good teacher at QB.

"I've been playing quarterback all my life," he said. "I've never played anywhere else."

"I have been hearing how to play quarterback all my life from my dad. The little things just seem to come automatic now."

Mike did miss out on the Fiesta Bowl though. His father went down with John Brockington, but Mike said, "I had a basketball game so I couldn't go."

Oddly enough, Mike has had some difficulty with injury on the basketball court.

"I've never been hurt playing football, but in basketball I seem to get hurt all the time," he said. "I'm completely healthy now."

Mike wants to major in business and lists a top five of Ohio State, Michigan, Boston College, Illinois, and Notre Dame. He is waiting to see what comes his way before deciding.

"I think it would be nice to get it over with but I want to see who offers first," he said.
