Are we gonna land a big time oos lineman this year? I'd take Gallimore, Mitchum, or Washington

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:05:13 PM)
I think there's a chance. I've heard mixed things with Gallimore, but I have reason to believe OSU stands a legit shot at Mitchum. They might actually stand the best chance at Washington.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:05:37 PM)
Any chance there will be video of Washington or Gallimore added to the library?

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:05:41 PM)
Lorenzo Washington is a player who sent in a questionnaire a long time ago, so he has had his eyes on this site and has been interested for a long time

loverbuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:06:32 PM)
Do you believe bad precedent could be set if Tress fails to sign the big three (Freeman,Ginn&Davis) whereby more elite Ohioans in the future would view MeatChicken as a viable option?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:06:34 PM)
hello all

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:06:42 PM)
The library is a great feature. I must have said so ten times but it deserves mentioning again...

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:06:42 PM)
I will have to see if other experts have video of those players. We don't yet and it's likely too late to get them until the summer. If they do, then there's a very good chance of that

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:07:15 PM)
have no fear we will land Davis, Ginn, and Freeman

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:07:31 PM)
Jeff Byers is a new name to me from the pay board today. Do you know much about him?

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:08:15 PM)
loverbuck I think for those three that would be a nightmare scenario for OSU and the Buckeye fans, but if players leave for UM, I don't think it will have a huge effect, although those players would certainly help out in the future trying to get players to UM.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:08:48 PM)
Jamie Newberg called Byers the best OL he's ever seen. I haven't paid attention to O-linemen enough to say that, but he has something like 20-30 offers and is a legit blue-chipper.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:08:59 PM)
Freeman is the only guy I would worry about, but I like our chances

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:09:00 PM)
How much potential do you think Jamario O'neal possesses. Is he the best DB prospect you have seen come from Ohio

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:09:22 PM)
I'm skeptical about OSU's chances though

loverbuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:09:23 PM)
Why do some prospects wait as opposed to an early verbal if they already know which school they prefer and have been offered?

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:09:34 PM)
skeptical about our chances with Byers?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:09:38 PM)
skeptical in regards to Byers?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:10:05 PM)
Where is Byers from?

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:10:18 PM)
Yes, Byers... although it's early and we'll see if he likes it at OSU. He's from Colorado

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:10:19 PM)
Hey all! I don't think losing these big players to UM sets a precedent at all. We need to realize that the state of Michigan does not produce near the talent that we produce here. And because of that we can't keep every top 10 player every year. It would hurt, but it would not be something that would be a program killer.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:10:25 PM)
Colorado it says in the database

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:10:57 PM)
HE will probably stay out west

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:11:05 PM)
So does camp start soon?

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:11:17 PM)
BuckeyeNOrlando, I probably haven't been watching long enough to really fairly say if he's the best, but I think he has a world of potential. He's one of two true blue-chippers in the upcoming junior class

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:11:20 PM)
if the buffs do not get him I am sure Oklahoma and USC etc. will be all over him

loverbuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:11:35 PM)
What do you think of Will Allen? I think he's a PLAYMAKER and will have a huge year this year, maybe a better year than Doss in 02.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:11:45 PM)
who is the other blue chipper, the RB from CJ

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:11:56 PM)
I know not every player out there feels about OSU like we do but we usually don't take a back seat to anyone when it comes to recruiting. You gotta think we would be attractive to an OL considering who we are graduating

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:12:09 PM)
loverbuck; They take advantage of being able to go around the country and check our other campuses. It is a neat experience and I think that they should take advantage of it.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:12:29 PM)
loverbuck, could be lots of reasons... some kids want to take trips for free. Some might just want to see who will offer. Some might want to wait and keep it close to the vest so the other players on the team get attention. To the free trips, I say "why not?" :)

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:13:10 PM)
Bucknutty, senior camps are on the 25th and 26th I think

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:13:15 PM)
Hawaii would definitely be in my top 5!I

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:13:19 PM)

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:13:55 PM)
I want to see a Coadogan offer if nothing else

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:14:01 PM)
Cadogan, oops

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:14:02 PM)
I like Will Allen and expect him to have a big year. Like Doss, there's been some knocks against his pass coverage, but he has shown that his spot will be fine

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:14:14 PM)
This year will tell the tale, possibly, but why is it OSU can't seem to land that #1 blue chip QB from out of state? I have been pondering this for about 10 years now, and as of now (this class not being finished yet) I can't figure it out.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:14:35 PM)
We are viewed as a run first school

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:14:47 PM)
we produce heisman RB's not Heisman QB's

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:15:05 PM)
The other blue-chipper is WR Mario Manningham from Warren Harding. Javon Ringer is right up there, but CB Brandon Harrison might actually turn out to be the better prospect on C-J. Both of those two are top ten kids

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:15:08 PM)
That is what the recruits see when they look at us

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:15:09 PM)
We do run alot, but that is not the sole reason; we constantly get some of the best WR's in the nation.

loverbuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:15:10 PM)
How highly was Lukens rated last year? Is he a sleeper or did have legitimae offers from top programs? I think he may be a future star with his size and speed!

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:15:13 PM)
I guess I will take championships over blue chip quarterbacks, but Tressel's style of play may scare some quarterbacks away.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:15:39 PM)
good point about receivers E

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:16:04 PM)
Manningham Vs. Davis, Your thoughts Kirk?

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:16:07 PM)
Don't get me wrong, I will take wins over certain players as well, it just seems the top 10 Qb

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:16:23 PM)
I would have to agree with that a lot; OSU is not the first place people think of when it comes to passing schools.

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:16:25 PM)
sorry... the top 10 qb's never have us listed

bucknut13 (Jun 5, 2003 1:16:26 PM)
I remember when Bellasari was here the first year for Tressel and he opened the offense up quite a bit, maybe for a number of reasons, but we did seem to look down field more.

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:16:35 PM)
I think we will open it up alot more this year tress plays to the type of talent that he has. Recrutis will see a much more explosive offense and the top national qb's will take notice .

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:16:57 PM)
Maybe Morelli will "buck" the trend? (sorry about that one)

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:17:29 PM)
Lukens was a guy who really came on during the May eval period then during camps. He had legit offers. Among the other schools he said had offered were Florida, Pittsburgh and I think maybe Penn State. There are people up there who love him and think he could actually be a sleeper candidate for early PT

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:17:41 PM)
All I want is some passes to the RB's TE's and some slants every now and then, nothing risky just mix it up

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:17:45 PM)
nybucks; I hope so. Only so these top WR's keep coming.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:18:14 PM)
BuckeyeNOrlando, I'm a fan of the big WRs. Both are special players, but I love Davis's size.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:18:27 PM)
what is manninghams size

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:18:38 PM)
Kirk is there any kids in Ohio this year who had a May like Lukens and shot up the charts

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:18:40 PM)
Manningham's a 5-11 guy.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:18:44 PM)

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:18:49 PM)

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:18:56 PM)

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:19:09 PM)
you should see the video on this kid if you have not

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:19:23 PM)
what ever happened to Bob Miller haven't heard his name mentioned much lately

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:19:43 PM)
thought he could be a lukens type

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:19:50 PM)
it is hard to figure out who he is on the video until the play gets started. he is the one that comes flying in like a bolt of lightning trying to take someones head off

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:20:02 PM)
He sure does seem to have the physical attributes you look for in a Mike

loverbuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:20:21 PM)
Why does OSU seem to be down on Rehring?

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:20:29 PM)
I like sirjo he showed me he has the athletic ablities when he plays on the hardwood

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:20:36 PM)
Because of feet I think loverbuck

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:20:45 PM)
Kirk, do you think Bolen will get offered as a RB after camp or will they only take him if he accepts being a FB

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:20:56 PM)
SirJo is a good answer to that question that nybucks asked. Really I think a few guys have had really good Mays -- guys like Cadogan, Incarnato, Rehring, Oninku. I think one player who has a chance to keep rising is Jeff Browning. Really though, I'd have to think for a sec on guys who might come out of nowhere. Those guys I listed aren't the "come ou t of nowhere" category

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:21:28 PM)
BuckeyeNOrlando: Don't know if anyone answered your question on J. Oneill. He is from my hometown and he is for real. He never stops, and hits like Whitner. I look forward to him playing for us.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:21:42 PM)
We haven't talked to Miller lately but he's definitely still on the radar screen. We'll have to catch up with him to find out what happened during May.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:22:36 PM)
loverbuck, according to Coach Cox, OSU isn't down on him at all... actually, Coach Cox said he was at the top of their list. From what I have seen on film, I like Cadogan better, but lots of schools are showing heavy interest in Rehring.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:23:00 PM)
My commit wish list would be:

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:23:33 PM)
Coach Cox says Miami (FL) is very interested in him

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:23:33 PM)
I'm sure you've already been asked about video of Del Ferguson?

loverbuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:23:50 PM)
When should there be a flurry of signings? Mid or late June?

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:24:17 PM)
Look for some heavy verballing at the senior camps in June.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:24:21 PM)
BuckNutty, we definitely want to keep working on that. Delbert isn't the only guy on that team we want to get on the site; there's Braxton and Clark too. We have an update on Braxton today by the way; I'll put it up after chat

Brutusbucki (Jun 5, 2003 1:24:22 PM)
When does OSU's camp start?

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:24:48 PM)
I am not trying to be rude but after seeing the Maupin video I wonder if he is better suited for the O-line.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:24:56 PM)
Is it a good update on Braxton??

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:25:03 PM)
Late June, after senior camp. There are a handful of guys who are waiting on an OSU offer, and if they get it, we'll see verbals.

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:25:15 PM)
Kirk who do you like more and who would you like to see a Buckeye more Brandon Barrent or Trumaine Smith.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:25:37 PM)
BuckNutty, it isn't bad. He still plans on going through the process.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:26:01 PM)
Probably taking Irizarry's advice

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:26:02 PM)
I want to say the camps run like the 15-26th, but it could start earlier. I know the senior camp has been changed from one day to two because of the players wanting to come; 25th and 26th.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:26:06 PM)
I think the normal camp sessions start the 17th. Senior camps are the 25th and 26th

loverbuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:26:52 PM)
The post on Washington (DE) says his dad played for OSU, does anyone remeber him? Was he a starter?

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:27:25 PM)
Funny you should mention taking advice... I just talked to Rob Carpenter (coach at Lancaster, dad of Bobby and current RB prospect Jon), and Jonathan is not saying anything, per Bobby's advice. It was interesting because Bobby told him that when he was being recruited and he told reporters what schools had offered and where he was interested in, it would cause other schools to back off.

Brutusbucki (Jun 5, 2003 1:27:32 PM)
Do you think Hoyer gets an offer or does he have to perform well at camp?

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:28:25 PM)
I caught the '98 against MSU on Classic the other night. As embarrasing as this is I have to tell you; I completely forgot they lost that game, I had never seen it. I guess I was just so excited to see an OSU game I had not seen before. Oh, well...

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:28:25 PM)
nybucks, Smith is one guy I haven't seen play. I guess I can't say for sure. I actually wonder if Barrett might be better at DB, but either way, I think he'd be a good pickup

pazbuc (Jun 5, 2003 1:28:49 PM)
therer was an Al Washington who played '77-'80

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:28:57 PM)
camp should be very fun and i hope we knock the socks off of many out of state players

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:29:05 PM)
Brutus; If he performs well I think he gets an offer.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:29:08 PM)
I started watching that MSU game. I couldn't finish. It was too painful. I hate watching those old games because they remind me how good those teams were and what should have been. 96 was the same way

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:29:40 PM)
Is it it me Kirk, or do they always show OSU losses on Classic; minus the Fiesta Bowl?

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:29:46 PM)
I couldn't watch the end either Kirk. So close but yet so far...

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:30:00 PM)
I think camp will tell the tale for Hoyer when it comes to an OSU offer. That will be one of the most interesting things to watch. I like Hoyer.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:30:01 PM)
It's not you E

loverbuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:30:17 PM)
Whatever happened to the Vandy walk-on punter? Is he coming, if not why?

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:30:28 PM)
HE went to Texas loverbuck

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:30:38 PM)
transferred actually

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:31:05 PM)
It's not you... other than the '96 Rose Bowl, the only other time I saw an OSU W on there was '95 against Penn State. Other than that, they always have stuff like '96 vs. UM, '98 MSU, Woody vs. Clemson, etc...

Brutusbucki (Jun 5, 2003 1:31:21 PM)
Kirk, how many and who would be your choices for OL in this recruiting class. The ones we realistically stand a chance with.

HangOnSloopy (Jun 5, 2003 1:32:03 PM)
They show the Holiday bowl "win" over BYU. Not sure how that's a classic. OSU should have won that game by 20 points.

PhotoE (Jun 5, 2003 1:32:20 PM)
Well, gentlemen, my 20 minute "play" window is up and I must get back to work. I will be at the 2-day senior camp to get some images for the site, so look forward to those later this month. See ya!

Brutusbucki (Jun 5, 2003 1:32:47 PM)
see ya PhotoE

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:32:56 PM)
Kirk do you think there is any recruit Ohio State will sign this year in Ohio we havent already heard about , is there still a possibility someone will sneak up on us like Welch. I know its a tough question and we really will never know.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:33:15 PM)
I think Person gets them off to a good start. Braxton would be next; gotta land the in-state kids. Then I'd like Mitchum and if Gallimore is indeed showing solid interest, he'd be up there. I like Cadogan, and even though some aren't as high on him, I like Branden Armstrong too. He's slim, but I think he can be built up to make a good lineman. As for Lorenzo Washington, there's definitely a chance there, but is it DT or OL?

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:33:20 PM)
Looking forward to some pictures...

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:33:55 PM)
So the OSU coaches like Mitchum as a DT?

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:34:04 PM)
i didnt think so

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:34:27 PM)
thats the kid from missouri

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:35:32 PM)
No, he's from PA, and an article I read said OSU was looking at him as a DT and I was shocked!

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:35:43 PM)
Gallimore is from Missouri

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:36:02 PM)
Every year, someone comes out of nowhere... Welch might have been this year's. If you want a wild, out-of-left-field sleeper, how's Tedd Bullock from Lucasville Valley? Dude's 6-4, 240, runs something like a 4.8 and is thick. OSU likes him and he's coming to camp. Again though, that's just a name to keep an eye on.

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:36:18 PM)
well I meant thats the kid from Missouri that you were talking aobut being a Dt I know mitchum is fromn Pa

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:36:45 PM)
sorry bout the spelling

Brutusbucki (Jun 5, 2003 1:36:53 PM)
Kirk, Of the out-of-state kids, who do you think the Buckeyes stand the best chance of landing.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:36:56 PM)
According to Hubbard who has seen video of Gallimore, his tape is more impressive than Mitchum's , and that's saying something

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:37:08 PM)
yeah I think so also

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 1:37:12 PM)
Alot more impressive

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:37:16 PM)
Forgot about that. I have seen multiple times they like Mitchum at DT. That is interesting. I certainly think he could play either spot in college. That isn't the only interesting thing though when it comes to positions. We've heard they like Branden Armstrong at DL and Nii Adjei Oninku at WLB.

mobdeep (Jun 5, 2003 1:37:26 PM)
any timetables for a ginn, davis or freeman decision?

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:37:39 PM)
it will be late deep

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:37:56 PM)
they want to get teammates attention

mobdeep (Jun 5, 2003 1:38:16 PM)
is that becoming more of the norm, to help out your teammates?

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:38:43 PM)
It's a nice thing for a top guy to do for his teammates.

Brutusbucki (Jun 5, 2003 1:38:50 PM)
Does Davis have the possibility to enroll early? I remember reading that he wants to make his decision by December because he'd like to enroll early.

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:39:00 PM)
in a sense also who wouldnt want to take a nov trip to miami and usc its a chance of a lifetime especially for a young kid

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:39:17 PM)
even if they know where they want to go

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:39:18 PM)
Out-of-state kids... I've been encouraged so far with what May has brought. You have to like guys like Kyle Williams showing solid interest. The other Illinois LBs, Chris Patterson and Eric Andino, would definitely consider OSU if the Buckeyes offered. Lorenzo Washington of course is on the list... there's a few.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:39:43 PM)
Morelli (QB), Barrett(WR), Davis(WR), Freeman(LB), Braxton(OL), Rehring(OL), Person(OL), Cadogan(OL), Incarnato(OL), Pittman(RB), Ferguson(RB), Kyle Williams(LB), Kyle Mitchum(DT), Sirjo Welch(FS), Lane(DB), Ginn(CB), Bolen(FB/RB), Tony Johnson(FB), Hoobler(TE), Miles Williams(WR), Lorenzo Washington(DT), Alex Barrow, Charlie Wanyek, Massey

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:39:53 PM)
That is my wish list

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:40:00 PM)
will we ever hear any more from eugene germany kirk

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:40:02 PM)
Kirk, do you know much about a RB from Florida named Charlie Jones who supposedly has solid interest in Ohio State?

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:40:03 PM)
But it is tough to choose which out-of-state kids OSU has the best shot at right now. We've been focusing on Ohio kids so much that we haven't really talked to too many out-of-state kids in detail and gotten a feel for it.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:40:06 PM)
the last three are all DE's

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:40:27 PM)
I do not think we will go out of state much this year

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:40:33 PM)
Charlie Jones would probably fall in the blue-chip category or close to it.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:40:36 PM)
we really do not need to

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:40:50 PM)
other than LB we are loaded at all of the positions of need

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:41:08 PM)
Anybody know when the Elite 11 is in California. I would like to go check it out. I heard Morrelli will be there . Anbody know who else?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:41:13 PM)
Do not be surprised at Mitchum to DT

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:41:33 PM)
Just watch his video he is phenomenal at DT or OL

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:41:48 PM)
well mitchum might be a Dt if we plan on playing cotton and maupin on the oline

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:41:49 PM)
I'm sure that at least a couple Texas and Florida kids will be at Elite 11.

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 1:42:11 PM)
Rhett Bomar and Reid from Texas I'm sure

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:42:12 PM)
Bohmar, Reid, McGhee, Ingram, X. Lee are guys I'm sure they'd try to get out there

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:42:14 PM)
but his quickness along with his size puts him in a whole other class. I was very impressed

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:42:33 PM)
Xavier Lee has some interest in Ohio State right?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:42:41 PM)
solid interest yes

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 1:42:42 PM)

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:42:45 PM)
Kirk, considering Hoyer's performance at the Michigan Nike camp, do you think he will get an invite??

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:42:58 PM)
he lists us in his top three and has said he wants to leave florida

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 1:43:02 PM)
but I fear that when Miami shows interest he goes there

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:43:38 PM)
Didn't Miami just get Kyle Wright? PT would be even harder to come by there you would think...

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:43:42 PM)
calibuck, that's a good question. Most people think Chase Patton is a top ten QB nationally, but Hoyer out-performed him at Nike. We can try to catch up with the Hoyers to find out.

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:43:59 PM)
Kirk, when thinking of the next two to three years do you see Whitier at S or corner

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:44:10 PM)
good ? NY

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 1:44:18 PM)
I think he's one of those kids that aren't leaving florida (re: Lee)

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:44:23 PM)
Kirk, that would be great. Do you know the date for Elite 11 camp??

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:44:35 PM)
That's a good question. I think he can be special at either place. It might depend on need.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:44:36 PM)
So he's bluffing Hubbard??

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:44:36 PM)
Hubbard I am just going off what he said

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 1:44:50 PM)
I don'y know for sure, just a feeling

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:45:24 PM)
thats what im going for the question of need, we have alot of deep talent at S and corner.

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 1:45:39 PM)
Miami is showing him no love so he's upset, but when they do he might have a change of tune. And soemone said he is almost A FSU lock

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:45:50 PM)
I believe he will be a CB and a great one

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:45:57 PM)
Elite 11 is July 23-27. Here's a link: I know fans haven't been able to get into Student Sports links before, but I think Total Access Pass should get you in that one. Let me know.

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:46:20 PM)
Kirk, your the bomb!

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 1:46:20 PM)
we're good on that one

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:46:24 PM)
It is easy to find big hitter with speed to play safety it is hard to find big hitters with speed that can play cover corner

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 1:47:38 PM)
was there an EZboard update last night?

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:47:55 PM)
By the way, as long as we're on the QB subject, don't overlook the fact that Coach Tressel went to Upper Arlington regarding Maciejowski. That is one to keep an eye on.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:48:26 PM)
Will you guys get video of MAJ

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:48:49 PM)
Because I honestly was not impressed with the Hoyer Vid

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:48:51 PM)
Yes, there was an update... you probably saw the chat link. That was the new chat room we were going to try today... until I looked at it. :(

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:48:54 PM)
Anybody have any thought on Pressler form NJ. He is huge and fast as a fullback and has OSU and PSU as favorites? Kirk, maybe you guys can get some updated info??

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 1:49:08 PM)
nNo good?

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:49:18 PM)
I did send a blank tape to Coach Mayne and I am waiting to get Maciejowski's tape.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:49:28 PM)

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:49:29 PM)
another guy who Im interested to see where he plays is gonzo. He has a bunch of potential but the reciever spot has alot of depth and with davis possibly coming in and hall, holmes, hiley, williams, jordan, do you see DB in gonzalez's future Kirk, thanks again

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:49:54 PM)
yeah cali, he has the size and speed you like to see. MarshCreek says if Penn St. offers he thinks he will be going to Happy Valley, FWIW.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:50:25 PM)
I think Gonzo will be a special teams star his first year I do not think he will redshirt

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:50:42 PM)
calibuck, he's on our out-of-state call list... which unfortunately is huge.

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:50:49 PM)
okay but where do you see him playing in the future orlando

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:51:23 PM)
I hope Gonzalez does redshirt. We can afford to do it and why should he burn a year on special teams? JMO

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:51:36 PM)
nybucks, it appears as CB is at least his immediate future. I think he can excel on either side... if I had a choice, it would be WR. But we shall see. I like him.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:51:44 PM)
I like him as a two-way guy. Primarily DB ,but some offensive plays in the slot or on reverses would be great

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:51:54 PM)
IBuck nutty, I thought I read a post earlier he was a buckeye fan growing up as a kid?? Then why PSU,unless we are not recruiting him. I think he is 243lbs and runs a 4.5.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:52:27 PM)
I'm only telling you what MarshCreek said on the board. He is a Penn State insider so he is obviously biased, but that's what he said

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:52:43 PM)
Will guys like nick smith and stanchek have to really stand out at camp to get an offer, have they had a good evaluation period

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:52:59 PM)
Kirk, but he has PSU and OSU as is "high" two choices!!!

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:53:06 PM)
you use him and other freshman or non big time players on special teams because they are more expendable and it is a good way to get there feet wet and used to the pace and intensity of college football

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:53:56 PM)
well redshirting to perserve a year and practicing with the best team in the land will help too

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:54:06 PM)
I can't see wasting a year of eligibility on special teams when there are no holes to fill, but what do I know?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:54:53 PM)
If they are not going to help they will be redshirted

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:55:01 PM)
we have alot of guys dieing to get on the field and will do so on special teams who have been here for a few years

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:55:13 PM)
but guys like D'andrea and Hiley and Gonzo are to great of athletes

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:55:24 PM)
thats true

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:55:31 PM)
Brandon Mitchell should be a nice special teams player this year

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:55:36 PM)
just like Bellisari

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:56:01 PM)
we did not like him as a QB but no one ? his heart and athleticism

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:56:10 PM)
he was a special teams star his frosh year

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:56:11 PM)
will the canadian speedster ever get on the field

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:56:17 PM)
I do not think

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:56:24 PM)
he will

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:56:28 PM)
wasted scholie?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:56:34 PM)
not really

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:56:46 PM)
I think he will eventually be a back up type

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 1:56:57 PM)
I never say never when it comes to that, but Roberts is certainly back the depth chart it appears

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:56:57 PM)
but to say wasted schoolie is a bit much

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:57:18 PM)
well i didnt mean it like that

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:57:54 PM)
there are 100 +_ kids on every team and they only consistently use about 50 so there is a lot that do not see much action

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:58:15 PM)
Is Irizarry going to contribute this year?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:58:20 PM)

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:58:26 PM)
No ?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:58:38 PM)
they told him be ready to catch some balls

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:59:01 PM)
They will use him to stretch defenses this year

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:59:04 PM)
I can't wait to see LI running down the seam stretching defenses. I feel sorry for defensive coordinators in the Big Ten.

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:59:10 PM)
He looked pretty skinny last year. I would imagine he needs to bulk up to get a lot of playing time

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:59:17 PM)

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:59:24 PM)
Kirk, how does Alex Barrow compare to some of the Dt's of the past few years like Patterson, Maupin, and pitcock

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:59:26 PM)
he is pretty solid

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 1:59:38 PM)
He's certainly not going to be asked to block a lot initially Oz, I agree with you...

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 1:59:58 PM)
Not solid enough for TE in my opinion

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 1:59:58 PM)
irizary has alot infront of him

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 1:59:59 PM)
Winslow was certainly not that big last year and you saw what he did to us

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:00:27 PM)
And as you remember we traditionally have not used our TE like Miami does

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:00:29 PM)
Dude, have you seen Winslow???? Just watched the NC last night again, and he's pretty solid

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:00:33 PM)
hopefully he has hit the weightroom hard this past winter and spring

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:00:36 PM)
I expect Louis to contibute...

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:01:01 PM)
I'm excited to see Louis

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:01:07 PM)
Traditionally no but Coach Tress wants to take the program to the next level

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:01:36 PM)
I'm sure he's never had a TE like Irizarry. It should be fun to watch...

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:01:42 PM)
I don't think we will see a lot of Irizarry this year

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:02:17 PM)
nybucks, Barrow's actually a guy I haven't seen yet, but I am wondering what schools are looking at him for (DE or DT). If I recall, he's like 6-4, 240 and somewhere around 4.8. So he might not be a true DT l ike Pitcock

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:02:40 PM)
oh i thought he was bigger

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:03:27 PM)
Oz you are crazy and misinformed

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:03:37 PM)
he most be more speed than power he probly will go somewhere else as a de

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:04:02 PM)
On Miami's own roster Winslow is reported as 6'5 233

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:04:18 PM)
Irizzary is 6'5 230

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:04:34 PM)
Hartsock and Hamby are not bad tight ends so lets not act like the cupboard is bare at the position.

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 2:04:40 PM)
I think Irizarry has put on some muscle too

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:04:41 PM)
did Winslow contribute heavily his true freshman year

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:04:49 PM)
I think Frost would be fantastic too if they decided to put him at TE.

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:04:59 PM)
No he didn't ny, he was a special teamer and had to sit behind Shockey

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:05:11 PM)
I know that these things are not always exact but give or take 10 pounds is irrelevant

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:05:14 PM)
I agree Kirk, his video is very impressive

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:05:15 PM)
I'm not going to argue with you, BuckeyeNOrlando. I like Irizarry a lot, I just don't see him getting a lot of looks this year

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:05:19 PM)
he has the size and has the ability

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:05:25 PM)
he will

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:05:38 PM)
How long have you been at Bucknuts??

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:05:45 PM)
i think hamby has alot of ability to catch the ball

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:05:53 PM)
I've been here for years and I don't remember you

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:06:08 PM)
Hartsock and Hamby are solid

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:06:14 PM)
Bucknutty, I don't think Tressel will use Irizarry the same way they currently use Hamby and Hartstock. Do you?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:06:16 PM)
Tress wants to use 2 TE sets were he has one blocking TE like Hartsock and one TE that will keep the Defense honest and scared

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:06:29 PM)
I have been on Bucknuts for a long time

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:06:37 PM)
3 years roughly

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:06:50 PM)
And Irizarry needs to work on his blocking techinique

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:07:19 PM)
Did not say that he didn't

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:07:28 PM)
Can't we all just get along???

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:07:31 PM)
did smith ever officially pass zwick as the number three in the spring or is it still dead even

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:07:37 PM)
I think they offense will evolve slightly with IZZ in there.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:07:38 PM)
But that is not what he will be used for

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:07:53 PM)
I would imagine they are pretty close to even ny

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:08:05 PM)
i like to be the topic changer when we arent getting along! lol

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:08:05 PM)
Yeah, Bucknutty, I just made a statement, didn't know I would be lambasted

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:08:11 PM)
lol ny

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:08:13 PM)
I'm cool

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:08:17 PM)
I don't think they've made that official. In my mind I like Smith by a nose but the luxury is that decision doesn't need to be made

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:08:20 PM)

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:08:20 PM)
I actually agree with you Oz

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:08:30 PM)
he will truly be great down the road when he does improve his blocking but he will make some big plays this year and they will use him

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:08:32 PM)
your right kirk

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:09:01 PM)
Thanks, bucknutty. I know you are a regular with Bucknuts.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:09:10 PM)

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:09:22 PM)
I think he'll play some, but to say he will play a lot may be a stretch. Time will tell...

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:09:42 PM)
Okay, I feel Orlando starting to heat up again...See you guys!

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:09:50 PM)
Later Oz

OzBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:10:00 PM)
Later Bucknutty

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:10:12 PM)
i dont post much but have been a reader for over 2 years so im definatly not a regular in your guys minds but i would like to post more

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:10:42 PM)
I read a good deal before I ever started posting.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:10:50 PM)
me too

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:10:56 PM)
Kirk, any news on Briggs, the DE from Cincy?

buckeye Joe (Jun 5, 2003 2:11:04 PM)
How good is this Minisota walk-on kiker suppose to be?

RossfordBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:11:32 PM)
Kirk - just got here, did I miss anything big?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:11:41 PM)
But Bucknuts is the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing i do before I go to bed. I kow it is pathetic but the Buckeyes are my passion and I know what I am talking about

Papa Jo (Jun 5, 2003 2:12:09 PM)
I check the site at least 5 times a day...

RossfordBuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:12:29 PM)
BNO - that is why we are all here :-)

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:12:30 PM)
I spend hours on the site daily

buckeye Joe (Jun 5, 2003 2:12:31 PM)
I chck it 6 times!

HangOnSloopy (Jun 5, 2003 2:12:32 PM)
I'm on the site off and on all day.

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:12:40 PM)
BuckNutty, nothing new there but we're keeping posted.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:12:53 PM)
Kirk who do you like best as a DE

Burt (Jun 5, 2003 2:12:54 PM)
Just got on -- Have you discussed the Washington kid from GA? (Dad played for the Buckeyes)

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:12:55 PM)
Joe, do you mean Kenny Harper?

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:13:06 PM)
He sounds like an intriguing prospect.

buckeye Joe (Jun 5, 2003 2:13:09 PM)

Papa Jo (Jun 5, 2003 2:13:18 PM)
Are we bummed Washington seems headed to Miami?

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 2:13:33 PM)
Jo, not I

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:13:38 PM)
not that big a deal

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:13:49 PM)
we never really had a shot

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:13:49 PM)
It was always pretty much a given that Bobby Washington was Miami's if they wanted him. At least from what I cound gather.

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:13:59 PM)
Hey Kirk probly not a good time to ask this but I would like to email you to ask you a few questons about your job im 19 and in my first year of college and would love to do the kinds of things you and duane do in the future. Sports is my passion and the lnly thing I want to do in life. Would like to ask you what kind of degree you have and such so if I could email one of you guys to help me out that would be great.

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 2:14:01 PM)
and I wasn't that impressed at ALL

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:14:08 PM)
Burt, we did talk about him some. He's definitely interested in OSU and a name to remember.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:14:22 PM)
IT is damn near impossible to get a kid from the greater Miami area if the Canes want him

Papa Jo (Jun 5, 2003 2:14:36 PM)
What's the real scoop on Delbert? Is it hands or grades/attitude/work ethic or other?

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:14:39 PM)
nybucks, sure, just e-mail

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:14:50 PM)
I was definitely impressed I am not sure how you could not be

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:15:10 PM)
It little bit of all of those Jo

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 2:15:14 PM)
no grades, attitude or work ethic will be taken care of by McDaniels

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 2:15:25 PM)
it's mainly speed and fumblitits

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 2:15:32 PM)
oops fumblitis

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:15:48 PM)
Transferring to Warren Harding will definitely help Ferguson in the long run. McDaniels runs a tight ship

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:15:58 PM)
that is for sure

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:15:59 PM)
I think Delbert will come around. Interesting variation of that word Hubbard :D

nybucks (Jun 5, 2003 2:16:04 PM)
well i gotta go guys great talking buckeye football, thanks abunch kirk for answering the questions. ill get that email to ya soon

Papa Jo (Jun 5, 2003 2:16:07 PM)
We need a big dog RB in this class though. Do we agree? It is Pittman?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:16:26 PM)
Pittman is awesome

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:16:32 PM)
I really liked what I saw

Hubbard (Jun 5, 2003 2:16:36 PM)
one of my many typos

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:16:47 PM)
Even more that what I saw of Delbert

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:17:04 PM)
than what I saw

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:17:08 PM)
I would love to grab a big feature back this year. I think OSU needs more than one.

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:17:15 PM)

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:17:21 PM)
Maybe the guy from NJ is the man for the job

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:17:37 PM)
I was pretty impressed with the kid that is going to Iowa

Papa Jo (Jun 5, 2003 2:17:43 PM)
Who is our next big focus for out of states RB's?

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:17:50 PM)
not a big back but I thought he was pretty impressive

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:18:03 PM)
Charlie Jones is a guy I would be interested in...

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:19:09 PM)
I would like to see Jones as well, PLUS a Pressly or Bolen type to make it three!

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:19:12 PM)
Dwayne Jones sounds like he fits the big back mold... we definitely need to talk with him and Charlie Jones.

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:19:48 PM)
Kirk,where is Jones from???

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:20:03 PM)
Dwayne Jones is from Toms River, NJ

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:20:10 PM)

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:20:30 PM)
Gotta Go I am sorry if I upset anyone that was not my intention I was just trying to have a discussion, and make a point. Kirk thanks again it is always a pleasure.

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:20:32 PM)

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:21:09 PM)
No problems Orlando

BuckeyeNOrlando (Jun 5, 2003 2:21:20 PM)
thanks Bucknutty

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:21:23 PM)
Do we have a solid chance with this Dual threat QB from Texas?

Burt (Jun 5, 2003 2:21:27 PM)
B-Nutty/Kirk: Just read the info. on Loronzo Washington (lineman from Georgia). It says that his dad played for the Buckeyes. What was his dad's name & when did he play? Loronzo likes OSU and Alabama.

Someone on the Bucknuts board did a search and found a guy named Washington...let me try to find it real quick because I forget the first name...

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:22:35 PM)
Reid? He's not on my list of guys they have a legit shot at right now, but he's another one we haven't talked to

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:22:54 PM)
That's the big question... I tried to get his dad's name from Scott Kennedy and he didn't know either

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:23:58 PM)
Alvin Washington, 4 year letterman from 77-80 Maybe that's him?

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:24:28 PM)
I must give Buckskin86 his proper credit

Burt (Jun 5, 2003 2:24:53 PM)
Alvin's son sounds as though he could be the "real deal"!

BuckNutty (Jun 5, 2003 2:25:56 PM)
Thanks for the info Kirk. Bye all...

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:26:07 PM)
Kirk, it has been reported that Reid has a verbal form OSU and the written is in the mail!

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:26:12 PM)
Seems like it is winding down. Does anyone have any last questions?

Burt (Jun 5, 2003 2:26:33 PM)
Will there be a transcript of this chat?

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:26:53 PM)
There have been lots of updates on Reid, which is about all I have to go on, but it seems like he mentions OSU in some and not others... I don't know.

calibuck (Jun 5, 2003 2:27:24 PM)
Thanks for everything Kirk!

Kirk (Jun 5, 2003 2:27:29 PM)
I plan to have a transcript on the front page.
