Florida LB talks summer plans

Vernon Wilder of Miami, FL is a LB who is showing some solid interest in Ohio State. We talked with him recently to find out more.

Down in Miami, they didn't like the outcome of the Fiesta Bowl much. One thing it did do, however, is let them know that Ohio State can play some football. A player who agrees with that is Miami Carol City LB Vernon Wilder.

"I was mad," Vernon said when asked about what he thought about the Fiesta Bowl. But he felt that the game put OSU back on the map.

"They'll come out and fight with any team," Vernon said of the Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes are a school that Vernon is very interested in. Rutgers and Michigan State have offered, and among the schools showing the most interest in the month of May were Florida, Kansas State, LSU, Ohio State, and Penn State. He is hoping to hear from Miami and FSU more.

"Ohio State and Penn State want me to come to camp," he said.

He hopes to camp at Miami, Florida, Auburn, and OSU. He hadn't decided what session of OSU camp he would attend.

"I have to call the coach and see," he said.

Vernon had 90 solo tackles, an INT, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries last year. He is being recruited for OSU by Coach Conley. He said that if he had to pick five schools to take official visits to right now, they would be Ohio State, Miami, LSU, Penn State, and then the fifth would be between Florida and Alabama. When will he decide?

"I'm not trying to rush it," he said.

He told Duane Long: "I want to wait to make a decision because I want to get up north and see what the cold is like. I don't see it making a difference, but I want to make sure."

Keep an eye on this player as more offers are certain to come soon.
