Thomas is a three-star tight end prospect that is set to begin his college career at Ohio State. He will battle returning tight end's Jake Stoneburner, Jeff Heuerman and Nick Vannett for playing time this season.
Rather than have a Scout.com recruiting analyst talk about Thomas, listen to what legendary head coach Chuck Kyle said of his star:
THOMAS ON CHOOSING OHIO STATE:
Thomas, 6-foot-4, 240-pounds, becomes the sixth offensive commit, following Jacoby Boren, Kyle Kalis, Warren Ball, Brionte Dunn and Frank Epotropoulos. The lone defensive commit to date is Joshua Perry, a linebacker from Olentangy.
"I have committed to Ohio State," Thomas confirmed Tuesday morning. "I actually spoke to Coach (JIm) Tressel last night and committed to him at that time, but I wanted to wait until this morning (Tuesday) to announce it."
After receiving the offer from Ohio State last Thursday, Thomas indicated it might not be too long before he accepted the offer, and he certainly did just that in issuing his commitment within a few days.
"It's probably been the dream of every high school player in this state to play for Ohio State," he admitted. "This was the offer I wanted, and it was too good to pass up. I loved the campus and the people down at Ohio State when I visited, so I sure didn't see any reason to wait to commit."
