Signing Day Impact: Luke Roberts

Lancaster (OH) linebacker Luke Roberts has faxed his letter of intent to Ohio State, and the three-star prospect is ready to start his career with the Buckeyes. Roberts was an early commit to the Ohio State 2012 recruiting class.

Lancaster (OH) three-star linebacker Luke Roberts committed to Ohio State early in the recruiting process and he is ready to get his Buckeye career under way.

Roberts, 6-foot-2, 225-pounds, will find low linebacker numbers looking at him when he reports to Ohio State. He projects as a middle linebacker.

BREAKDOWN:

Height, weight and speed numbers do not always tell the entire story on a prospect, especially a linebacker. Roberts will use his tenacity, and his 4.3 GPA, to succeed at the next level.

Roberts is similar to several of his defensive teammates, in that he loves to hit people. He might not be the most athletic player of the Ohio State linebackers, but Roberts is a solid tackler who rarely misses.

ROBERTS ON CHOOSING OHIO STATE:

"I committed around 3 this afternoon. I took a visit on Monday and was extremely impressed. After coming home and talking it over with my family and praying about it, I realized Ohio State was the right place for me."

The senior got the offer from the Buckeyes 2 weeks ago, and was still considering Purdue and Arizona, but after visiting Columbus, he knew that Ohio State was the place for him.

"Just how I fit in both academically and athletically. I want to major in business and they have a great business school. And being from Ohio, Ohio State is a big deal around where I live. It has a great tradition with both the players and the coaches."
