"Pretty good," he said. "A lot of schools are showing interest. I have offers from Akron and Vandy."
Joel did well in track this year but was the victim of some tough competition in regionals.
"I threw the shot and discus," he said. "I missed by four inches going to the state meet. The four guys who finished ahead of me in the region took four of the top five spots in the state."
Joel is a very hard worker who is busy in the weight room.
"I am doing more endurance stuff in the weight room right now," he said. "My bench press is up to 400. I started skipping rope after the football season along with weight lifting."
Joel is looking for a winning program and seems to want to stay in the Big Ten, but at the same time, he is keeping his options open.
"I want to go to Ohio State or a Big Ten school," he said. "But other than that, I am really not thinking about an early verbal because outside of that, I am wide open."
