Quotes from Alex Boone and more

We have recruiting updates on several players. First, OL Alex Boone talks with Duane about his offer. Next, OL Steve Rehring gets a big offer from Michigan. Then we have a quick quote from Brock Bolen's father about Brock's preferences, and Harrison DT Jeff Browning talks about his commitment to Cincinnati.

We caught up with junior OL Alex Boone from Lakewood St. Edward to talk about his big offer. He was down at OSU camp Tuesday and Wednesday and didn't get to speak to the coaches personally, but he worked in Coach Bollman's group and came away impressed.

"I was very impressed with Coach Bollman," he said. "I learned more in a day and a half than I did in my entire football career."

Alex is thrilled about what has happened. Has committing crossed his mind?

"I'm very excited about the offer," he said. "I don't want to rush into anything but I'm thinking about it hard."

Alex was just a sophomore last year but still saw a lot of time for one of the best teams in the state.

"I played in all the games," he said. "I played in a lot more at the end of the year and in the playoffs."

Alex is also excited about the plans with the new weight lifting center and is going to try to get back down to OSU next week.

"I'm going to try to get down there the 25th and 26th to take a look at the engineering department."

The Buckeyes offered another member of the upcoming junior class in Ohio this week as they extended an offer to Warren Harding WR Mario Manningham yesterday. Manningham was rated as the #2 overall prospect in the state in his class in the last issue of Ohio's Future Stars and is an outstanding wide receiver prospect.

We just got a notice from Coach Larry Cox at West Chester (OH) Lakota West that big OL Steve Rehring got one of his biggest offers to date. "I thought I would let you know Michigan offered Steve Rehring this week," Coach Cox said. "The offer came from Coach Carr. Steve is at Miami of Florida this weekend. Steve is going to the O.S.U. senior camp next week."

Brock Bolen has been busy lately, and there have been a couple of additions at the top of his list. "Brock has just visited Illinois and his favorites today are Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan State," his father told us. "It is going to be a very tough decision."

Jeff Browning is one of the top defensive linemen in the state of Ohio and one of the top 40 overall prospects in the state, and he has decided to stay close to home and play for the Cincinnati Bearcats.

"I just didn't want to get too far away from home," he said. "Cincinnati had the law program I was looking for. I was there yesterday and I was not going to do it but as I was leaving I just decided it felt right."

"I am benching 405. I got 3 reps. I am 280 right now and recently ran a 4.9."
