Recruiting Update - Jason Chapman

A player we haven't talked about on this site yet is DE/TE Jason Chapman from Bedford, OH, but we may be talking about him much more in the future. His offer list is very impressive, and Ohio State is one of the schools he is most interested in.

We have been asked by several fans about where OSU will get their defensive ends this year. There may just be a defensive end who has emerged right here in the state of Ohio. His name is Jason Chapman, and he hails from Bedford, OH. He can play either TE or DE, and he reported an impressive offer list of Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Virginia, Penn State, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Bowling Green, and Toledo.

Jason originally wanted to go to OSU camp, but he didn't make it down there.

"I was going down to Ohio State, but I can't get a ride," he said. "I messed up my ankle and couldn't perform anyway. I went up to Michigan and I couldn't work out. But they did offer me."

Where will he play in college?

"Some schools are saying tight end, but most of them like me as a defensive end," he said.

At least one Ohio State coach has had very high praise for Chapman.

"Coach Tucker has been recruiting me," he said. "He told me I was the best defensive end in the Midwest."

Jason listed his top four as Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio State. A decision won't come any time soon though.

"I'm going to wait until after the season to make my decision," he said.
