Hill's Happy to be a Buckeye

Michael Hill is a quiet and reserved young man, but this Ohio State commitment took the time to talk with Scout about his commitment, if he will visit other schools, and more right here.

"I visited Ohio State as soon as I got out of school last summer and they really stood out. I visited Tennessee, South Carolina, LSU, Florida, and Alabama in that same span, but I kept thinking about Ohio State. I just knew that was the school I needed to commit to," said Michael Hill.

Hill talks about what pushed the Buckeyes above the rest.

"First, it was Urban Meyer. He is a great coach and he really showed me how things were going to be if I came up there with him.

"A lot of things stood out to me when I was up there visiting too. It is a big college campus, but it is a tight community up there. I really liked that. I also like how they are strong in Finance because that is what I am looking to major in. I just seemed to fit in there and that is what is most important to me."

Since committing to Ohio State, Hill has watched the Buckeyes closely.

"I have watched them play on T.V. a lot this season and they have been playing well. I have focused mainly on the offensive line of the other team when I watch them to learn about their blocking schemes. I am trying to recognize if they like to pull and stuff like that to prepare me for next year."

Urban Meyer and company want to plug this 6-foot-3, 280 pound defensive lineman out of Pendleton, S.C. right into the middle of their defense and Hill thinks he will fit in nicely.

"They want me to play defensive tackle and the 3-technique for them and I am excited about that. That is the position I play here, so I know that position, and I think I can read offensive linemen well. I am a strong bull rusher, I can play the run pretty well, and I am working to improve my pass rushing skills too. I think I will be ready to compete."

Hill will get back up to Columbus late in November for one of the biggest rivalries in all of college sports.

He has high expectations.

"I will be taking my official visit when Ohio State plays Michigan and I can't wait to see that," Hill said with excitement. "I have been to the Clemson-South Carolina down here, so I have seen a rivalry game, but I have heard a lot about what to expect at the Michigan-Ohio State game."

That visit on the weekend of November 25 will be the only one he takes.

"I am 100-percent solid to Ohio State. I am still getting a bunch of mail from everyone, but nobody is calling me or pressuring me to visit because they know I am solid.

"Ohio State did a great job recruiting me and I am excited about playing for them and being there next year."
