Long, 6-foot-5, 228-pounds, has had an impressive junior season to date and is a top 2014 prospect in Ohio. He received his first scholarship offer this week.
"I just got my first offer, and it's from Ohio University," Long stated. "It feels really good, and it makes me want to work even harder to get more. I was down there for camp last summer, and I really liked the staff and the campus. My highlight tape just came out recently, and that has really helped get me noticed."
Several top programs are in touch with Long, who has taken two unofficial visits recently.
"Illinois, Maryland, Cincinnati, Louisville, Boston College, Duke, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana and Ohio State have been in touch," he explained. "Most of these schools have invited me to games and I've been able to get to Illinois and Ohio State so far. I would love to get to Michigan if that's possible."
"I went to Illinois a few weeks ago, and even though they lost, I had a great time there," he added. "That was the first big game I was at, and I liked everything about Illinois and I would love to have that offer. I'm in contact with Coach (Alex) Golesh a lot, and he's a great guy."
"I was at Ohio State last weekend for the Purdue game, and that was amazing," Long said. "It was a great game and there's nothing like Ohio State. The place was packed and the crowd was going crazy at the end. I loved being there. I didn't get a chance to see the coaches before the game, because I had practice and couldn't get there early."
Long is one of the more improved players in Ohio in the junior class, and his play on the field is starting to catch up to his potential. He has over 500 receiving yards this year.
"This year, I'm a lot more aggressive and I know the game so much better," he admitted. "I'm a lot smarter player and I know what to do on the field. I'm in the weight room looking to get bigger and faster, and I'm always looking to improve as a player."
