Kief Talks New Offers

As one of the top receivers in Ohio for the 2014 recruiting class Cincinnati (Ohio) La Salle standout Derek Kief has added a few new offers to his growing list. Kief talked with FOXSportsNEXT.com about his new offers and other interest.

This past season saw Cincinnati (Ohio) La Salle wide receiver Derek Kief take the next steps towards being one of Ohio's top prospects.

Against a tough schedule the 6-foot-5, 190-pound Kief totaled 65 receptions for 907 yards and nine touchdowns earning All-GCL honors in the process. With his season over, Kief was ready to talk about a couple of his newest offers.

"My new offers came from Northwestern and Indiana," said Kief. "I've also been offered by Illinois, Cincinnati and Toledo."

Kief recently visited one of his new offers.

"I took a visit up to Northwestern," said Kief. "The campus is really nice and I talk with the coaches a lot. I liked the overall environment as it's a really nice camps and it just felt right. I also like a lot of the new stuff they are bringing in with their facilities."

As for the Hoosiers things sound like they are just getting started.

"I don't know much about Indiana at this time," explained Kief. "I'm just starting to contact their coaches."

While excited about the early attention Kief is also surprised so much has happened so fast.

"It is surprising as this time last year I didn't even know it would start like this," said Kief. "So I guess I'll have to embrace it."

Other programs Kief has seen interest from, visited or looking to visit include a couple of Big Ten programs.

"I'm pretty sure I'm going to go up to Michigan and maybe Notre Dame," said Kief. "I'm not sure right now as we're going to have to see how our schedule is. I've already gone up to Ohio State for a couple of their games and I'm interested in everyone who is sending me stuff right now."

FOXSportsNEXT.com will continue to follow the progress of Kief as he's already picked up an early three-star ranking in the 2014 class.
