When asked what stood out to him when on the Ohio State campus, there was "a lot" that caught his attention, but the team and their closeness stood out to him as much as anything.
"I just liked how the teammates have each other's backs there at Ohio State. That team is together and I like that a lot. It was a very close game against Michigan and the team stayed together, and they pulled it out as a team. That really caught my attention."
Another thing that Johnson saw was the National Championship rings of head coach Urban Meyer.
Johnson wants to win on the next level and he knows Meyer knows how to win the biggest game of all.
"Coach Meyer is a man that backs up what he says. When he showed me his rings, it just showed me that he is a man of his word and that he knows what he is doing.
"His message to me all weekend was to come play for him, win championships at Ohio State, and to become an All-American. When he told me those things, I listened, because I think of him as a man that backs up his words."
The Buckeyes have been recruiting the four-star linebacker out of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett since he was in 10th grade and they have his attention.
"My interest in Ohio State is real high right now," Johnson said. "I am really taking a good look at them right now and I have a lot of interest in them."
He could have even more interest now than he did before the visit took place not only because of what he saw and how he felt in Columbus, but because of what is going on at Auburn.
The head coach he committed to when he chose the Tigers will not be there next year.
"I kind of saw him [Gene Chizik] getting fired, so I was not that surprised by the news. It is not something I am really ready to talk about yet, but I am still committed to Auburn right now.
"I am going to sit back and see what happens there and play things by ear. I do not have too much to say about them right now."
Another school trying to get Johnson away from Auburn is SEC foe Florida.
The Gators had the 6-foot-1, 225 pound senior down at The Swamp for the South Carolina game and he liked what he saw. He will be back in the Sunshine State in a few weeks.
"I am going down to Florida for my official visit on December 15. I really liked how their defense played when I was down there and their fans were great too. I will be back down there soon."
Stay tuned to Scout for the latest on Johnson as he decides if he wants to stay with Auburn or make a change in his recruitment.
