Buckeyes Happy To See West

One of the top prospects in Ohio for the 2014 recruiting class is safety Darius West. Saturday, West was at Ohio State and gives an update about his visit.

Interest continues to rise for junior safety Darius West of Lima (Ohio) Central Catholic. The 6-foot, 183-pound West used one of his final free days to visit Ohio State for their battle against Michigan coming away impressed.

"The game was just outstanding," said West. "It was fun and I got a chance to speak with (assistant) coach (Tim) Hinton and (assistant) coach (Everett) Withers who coaches the safeties.

"Coach Hinton said he was real hyped I was there and was running around as he was real busy. So I didn't get to talk with him too much. Coach Withers said he was looking all around for me and was glad he found me. He told me he's going to be in my school in the next week or two to talk with me.

West has visited the Buckeyes in the past but found Saturday to have a little extra to offer.

"You could tell the intensity was at a different level," said West. "You could also see the players were more disciplined and the overall atmosphere was much higher."

West is just getting into basketball season with his first game this coming Friday, but that will not stop him from working on his dream of playing college football.

"I was invited down to the U.S. Army Combine so I'll be going down there in January," explained West. "I've been talking with a lot of college like Wisconsin, Indiana, West Virginia and Cincinnati. But earning an offer from Ohio State would mean a lot since Ohio is my home state and they are the team I grew up watching."
