"I had talked to Coach Garrison before they came by Monday," Garrett said. "But I didn't know he was going to come to the school though."
He added, "He told me that today was his first place on the road and that the head coach told him the first person he wanted him to see was me so that was really cool."
And what did Coach Garrison have to say to Garrett?
"He said I was one of those kids that had a ten second film," Garrett said. "And that they all love me up there and that they want me to come visit sometime."
Something that Garrett had actually already thought about doing.
"I would definitely like to get up there," Garrett said. "My mom and dad and I were watching the game the first time they played Wisconsin -- and you could tell the game day atmosphere was crazy on TV."
He continued, "We were talking about it then, how we should get down there for a game."
Something else Garrett has noticed about Nebraska, is how he would fit into their defensive scheme.
"I think I would fit into their defense pretty well," Garrett said. "From what I have seen when I have watched them. All theirs linebackers and defensive backs play downhill and communicate really well."
He added, "And they all really like to hit, I like the defense a lot overall and I really love that the defense plays as one big unit."
So far the Huskers haven't been the only schools to drop by Plainfield South to see Garrett.
"Ohio State came by as well as Michigan State, Illinois, Vanderbilt,Wisconsin, and Iowa, and I think that is about it," Garrett said. "A coach from Arizona State said he would come by in January as well as Ole Miss as well."
And the feedback from coaches has been very positive overall.
"They all said they loved my highlight tape, they said they like that I play downhill and I like to hit," Garrett said. "They love my physicality and they all want me to come down for a game day."
Along with receiving a new offer, Garrett also reflected on his most recent trip to Ohio State.
"It was crazy, it was insane actually." Garrett said. "I went up with my dad and two of my teammates. We had a great time, we stayed overnight. It was the best game day atmosphere that I have seen all year, the fans were all die hard. The coaches all were really cool too."
Although Garrett enjoyed the entire experience, he had a favorite part of his trip to Columbus.
"My favorite part was probably after the game when everyone was rushing the field," Garrett said. "I got a chance to bond with a lot of the fans and there were a lot that surprisingly knew me."
He added with a laugh, "That was pretty cool it was like I was a celebrity."
