Johnson recently attended a football combine in Birmingham, Alabama and ran the best 40-yard dash of all the players who participated in the combine, a 4.49. Add in his height and weight (6-foot-3, 192) and you have a guy who has real D-I potential.
As of now, no college coaches know much about the youngster.
"I haven't been to any college camps," said Johnson. "The only camp I've been to is the NUC, National Underclassmen camp. I did pretty good at the camp and got invited to go to Atlanta for their national combine but I couldn't go to it due to having school stuff to do."
He hopes to attend several camps this coming summer.
"I want to go to the Alabama camp but I would like to be invited to it," said the youngster. "I would also like to go to a lot of other camps as well. I prefer to go to camps that are SEC-related."
As for what he's looking for in a college, he really hasn't given it much thought.
"I really haven't thought much about what I'm looking for in a school," he said. "But being a kid I like the uniforms, the system the college runs, things like that."
When he does attend camps he wants the college coaches to see a guy who plays with effort and gets the job done with little fanfare.
"I know I have the height and the size but I want people to also see someone who works hard on the field," said Johnson. "I like to play aggressive but I don't run my mouth."
