It's make or break time with Bell

ORLANDO, Fla. - One of the top uncommitted prospects in the country is Vonn Bell and you can get the very latest in his recruitment here. He has a big month of January ahead.

It gets started on the weekend of January 12 when Vonn Bell travels to Columbus, Ohio to visit Ohio State.

He then will visit Alabama and Tennessee the following weekends.

"I am going to take three official visits and I want to give each school a chance, give them the respect they deserve for recruiting me, and get my family out there with me to see how they feel at each school," Bell said.

Alabama, Ohio State, and Tennessee are his finalists, but the school he grew up a fan up because of where he lived was the Vols.

They have had a coaching change, so he is interested in seeing what the new staff is all about.

"Butch Jones has a good history at Cincinnati, so we are going to give him a chance, see what he wants to do at Tennessee, and take a visit up there to get to know him. I have talked to Coach Jones, he is a winning coach, so he seems like he knows what he is doing."

While Bell was playing for a state title inside the Georgia Dome a couple of weeks ago, Urban Meyer showed up on the sideline.

Meyer is a big part of the Buckeyes being high on Bell's list.

"Urban Meyer is what attracts me most to Ohio State. He is a winner and he is going to win no matter where he goes. He has won everywhere, he knows how to coach his players, and he went undefeated again this past season. I see him bringing in some top athletes to make that Ohio State program even better."

While UT and OSU have top programs and are rich in history, the Crimson Tide has been the best team in college football two out of the past three seasons.

Nick Saban is known for defense too which attracts this elite safety to them.

"Alabama is like a 'Defensive Back U' up there and they are always going to be talented. They put guys in the NFL every year, they coach guys up as well as anyone, and I expect them to keep playing for National Championships. Winning is very important to me."

Winning is very important, but Bell is not just about that. He wants to get a great education, he wants to be playing for good people, and he and his family have done their homework on each school.

They Bell's are now set to hit the road and each visit will be big.

"The official visits for me is the make or break for me with those schools. It is close to the end of the process, this will be my last time on their campus before I make my decision, and these visits will be big for me and my family.

"We have studied them, we know a lot about them, so while they know me, we know them too. It will fun to see how the visits go."

The coaches from each respective school are not the only ones recruiting this five-star out of Rossville (Ga.) Ridgeland.

Down in Orlando, he has had many in his ear too.

"A lot of guys from different schools have been telling me to come with them all week," said a laughing Bell. "I have talked with some more than others and I have listened to what they say about their coach, so it has been fun. They have had a lot of good things to say."

Bell has not set a commitment date, but he will likely decide before Signing Day.
