Badgers Reconnect With Evans

Sun Prairie (Wisc.) class of 2014 defensive tackle Craig Evans spoke with the new Wisconsin coaches today and things are trending the Badgers' way again.

Sun Prairie High defensive tackle Craig Evans was supposed to attend Michigan State's junior day on Sunday, but was unable to make the trip.

"He had a basketball game on Saturday," head coach Brian Kaminski explained.

The Spartans are one of the schools the 6'3, 310-lb defensive tackle was looking at following the coaching change at Wisconsin, but now a new coach has been named and contact has been made.

"He talked to Badgers coach Gary Andersen today so he was pretty excited. [Coach Andersen] came to school and talked to me and Craig ended up calling him, so they talked to him for about five minutes just to get a chance to get to know him a little bit. He seemed like a really good guy."

On the possibility of Evans attending other junior days, Kaminski said, "Not right now."

He also believes the Badgers may end up re-solidifying things with his star player.

"He was pretty sold on Wisconsin. He just wanted to get back in touch with those guys. To be honest with you, I think he'll probably stick to Wisconsin here, but I know Michigan State's been in contact."
