Bank Blog: Recruiting Update

Even though there are only a few spots remaining, Ohio State is pushing hard right to the finish line with the 2013 recruiting class. Where do things stand with only three weekends left before National Signing Day?

Although there are only two or three open spots in the Ohio State 2013 recruiting class, Buckeye head coach Urban Meyer is not slowing down the pace at all in trying to land another stellar class.

The Buckeyes currently sit in the number-three spot nationally in recruiting rankings, and they are poised for a big finish. Who is still in the mix?

Vonn Bell. The five-star safety has said he will choose between Alabama, Ohio State and Tennessee on National Signing Day. Bell still has official visits remaining with Alabama and Tennessee. WHAT'S NEXT? The best hope for now is to have Bell leave Tuscaloosa as an uncommitted recruit, and take your chances from there.

Dontre Wilson. The four-star playmaker has been committed to Oregon since last summer, but has scheduled an official visit to Ohio State in two weeks. WHAT'S NEXT? Have Wilson step off a plane in Columbus, and take 48 hours to convince him he needs to spend the next four years at Ohio State.

Dan Skipper. Currently committed to Tennessee, the Buckeyes will be hosting the big man this weekend on an official visit. WHAT'S NEXT? Ohio State needs to decide to push "All-In" on Skipper, or stall to see where things are in a few weeks with numbers.

Cameron Hunt. His official visit has ended with no commitment, so that looks like this won't be happening. Have to wonder just how hard Ohio State pushed for Hunt, as he is a guard prospect. WHAT'S NEXT? Basically, this looks like it will not be happening, and you wait to see if Hunt commits elsewhere soon.

Corey Smith. This one was always going to be complicated, and the Mississippi State commit is still in the picture. Ohio State is supposed to be at his school doing their research soon, and that is the next step. WHAT'S NEXT? Do all the new offers mean Ohio State will walk away from Smith? We should have that answer by the middle of next week.

Cornelius Elder. Much like Smith, the longer this one rolls on, the less likely it becomes that he gets in the class. WHAT'S NEXT? Maybe Ohio State comes back to him late if everyone falls through?

James Clark. A relative new shooter in the picture, and he is blowing up nationally. WHAT'S NEXT? Have to see him in Columbus on an official visit before taking this one seriously.

Kyrin Priester. Not sure where this one is headed at this point, but the North Carolina State commit is certainly looking around. WHAT'S NEXT? It appears Ohio State likes others more, and without an official visit there's no reason to be excited.

Tyree Robinson. The four-star wide receiver is committed to Oregon, but landed an offer from Ohio State shortly after the resignation of Duck head coach Chip Kelly. WHAT'S NEXT? A visit is scheduled for January 25th, and this could be Urban Meyer's Signing Day Shocker.

Tyrell Robinson. Meyer looking to go two-for-one with the Robinson twins, and this is an athlete to get excited about just like his brother. To scoop up two quality athletes like these two out of the blue would be almost too good to be true. WHAT'S NEXT? Gotta count the days and hope two striking athletes step off a plane in Columbus in two weeks.
