Kentucky coach Mark Stoops hopes to keep the recruiting momentum rolling as the Wildcats play host to more talented prospects this weekend.
Headlining the list of expected official visitors are Frankfort (Ky.) Franklin County athlete/receiver Ryan Timmons and Orlando (Fla.) Freedom High School wideout Jeff Badet.
Timmons (5-11, 185, 4.4) is one of the best all-around athletes to come through the Bluegrass State in years. As a senior, he accounted for 2,368 yards of total offense, rushing for 1,364 and hauling in 33 passes for 1,004 yards. He scored 45 touchdowns last season on only 124 touches, averaging a TD every 2.7 times he had the ball in his hands.
Kentucky was battling Arkansas for Timmons early in the process, but the Razorbacks are no longer in the mix. California and Missouri recently extended scholarship offers, and Florida and Ohio State have expressed interest.
The Gators have former UK head coach Joker Phillips, who had developed a strong relationship with Timmons during his time in Lexington, recruiting the Flyers star, but it's unclear where he falls on Florida's wide receiver board at this time or if an official scholarship offer will be extended. The same holds true for the Buckeyes, who have other targets ranked above Timmons and are facing scholarship reductions from NCAA sanctions that may make it difficult to produce an offer.
Badet (5-11, 170, 4.5) is coming off a senior season which saw him catch 64 passes for 903 yards and 17 touchdowns. A group of ACC programs, including Wake Forest, N.C. State and Clemson, appear to be the Cats' biggest challengers for his services. Clemson has yet to offer, but could become a factor late as they are pursuing both Badet and close friend/fellow UK target Asiantii Woulard, a four-star prospect and U.S. Army All-American quarterback from Florida's Winter Park High School.
Badet originally committed to South Florida before re-opening his recruitment due to staff changes with the Bulls.
Kentucky is also expected to entertain three-star Tustin (Calif.) High School center David Maka (6-5, 330), who has Arizona, Washington and Utah rounding out his final list.
Three-star Loganville (Ga.) Grayson defensive back David Kamara may also be on the UK campus this weekend. He says UK, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas Tech are at the top of his list with national signing day approaching. The Rebels are considered by many to be the toughest competition for Kamara, who is the teammate of the nation's No. 1 overall prospect, defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche, also thought to be leaning toward Ole Miss.
A potential major addition to the visitor list is four-star Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney safety Marcus McWilson, who is committed to Nebraska, but has been in talks with the UK staff recently. McWilson, rated the nation's No. 16 safety prospect by FOX Sports and Scout, told KentuckyScout earlier this week that he may take a trip to Lexington to make sure he feels comfortable with his final decision.
Previously committed players Jacob Hyde, Khalid Thomas and Nate Willis may also be part of the weekend festivities.
