Bank Blog: Monday Recruiting Update

Another official visit weekend has past at Ohio State, and only one recruit (Dan Skipper) showed up on campus, and is still there completing his trip. With this coming weekend setting up nicely for the Buckeyes, where do things stand currently with Urban Meyer's 2014 recruiting efforts?

Vonn Bell. A weekend official visit to Alabama has come and passed without much news on the five-star safety. There is still a Tennessee visit upcoming, but nothing solid on Bell other than internet scuttlebutt of a silent to the Tide. WHAT TO WATCH: The visit to Tennessee could show that Bell is still wide open, which is how I'm reading it today.

Dontre Wilson. The Oregon commit is supposed to take an official to Ohio State this weekend, which will be huge if it takes place. Urban Meyer has to be dreaming of putting Jalin Marshall and Wilson on the field together for the next four years. WHAT TO WATCH: Have to see if Wilson does arrive in Columbus, and nothing good happens without the visit.

Dan Skipper. Still at Ohio State on an official. Word is things are going well, and Meyer will push for a commitment. Would have Skipper as the only lineman possibility at this time. WHAT TO WATCH: A commitment to Ohio State in the next 24-48 hours would not shock.

Cameron Hunt. Have the feeling this one is dead and he will be staying on the left coast. WHAT TO WATCH: A commitment to Oregon this week?

Corey Smith. I still see life in this one, and would not rule Smith out of this class just yet. There are I's that need dotted and T's that need crossed, and that can still happen. WHAT TO WATCH: A trip to Mississippi by Tom Herman and/or Urban Meyer probably needs to take place before this can work out.

Cornelius Elder. I don't think Ohio State would take him today, but he could be a late option if others fall through. WHAT TO WATCH: See if he commits elsewhere in the next week, or if he stays available.

Kyrin Priester. Committed to Clemson over the weekend. WHAT TO WATCH: Nothing.

Tyree Robinson. Along with his twin, this is the big, fast, athlete Meyer covets. Will Oregon be able to hold onto them? Can USC steal them away? What about Ohio State? WHAT TO WATCH: Like Dontre Wilson, do the twins arrive in Columbus?

Tyrell Robinson. See above. Pure package deal. WHAT TO WATCH: A side-note could be the fact that the twins want to play basketball and football at the next level.

James Clark. Sure seems like he wants to go to Florida, but might use Clemson as his fall back plan. Goes back and forth on visiting Ohio State. WHAT TO WATCH: Does he visit Ohio State in the next two weeks?

Darren Carrington. Not feeling this one for Ohio State, but they will be at his school this week to try to get the official visit. WHAT TO WATCH: Does he ever visit Ohio State?

Devin Lauderdale. Not happening. WHAT TO WATCH: Nothing, for now.

Donovan Munger. Took a visit to Florida State this past weekend, and it WAS NOT Ohio State-approved. Reportedly, there was a conversation between Munger and Urban on Sunday that was probably not pleasant. Devan Bogard took a surprise visit to USC, and still signed with Ohio State, so this type of move is not a deal-killer in Meyer's eyes. WHAT TO WATCH: Munger's parents do not want him speaking to the media, so I'm not certain we will know his intentions anytime soon. The early reports are that all has been smoothed over between Munger and Ohio State. Let's watch this one closely.
