Campbell Talks Buckeyes & More

Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary running back Parris Campbell will look to help the Irish win another title in 2013. caught up with Campbell about his interest in Ohio State and more.

In December, Parris Campbell rushed for 168 yards and scored three touchdowns in front of Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and several members of his staff.

While Campbell hadn't heard from the Buckeyes leading up to the game, he's now been in contact several times and feels he will be given an official offer from Meyer soon.

"It's not official yet but I have a verbal offer from Ohio State right now," said Campbell. "I spoke with Coach Meyer a little bit last Sunday when I went down for an unofficial visit when the basketball team played Michigan.

"I was supposed to talk with him again but the game started and I was unable to catch up with him after the game. I plan to go to their first spring practice and probably a couple of more just to go there.

"Coach (Mike) Vrable is my recruiting coach at Ohio State and we're building a relationship. It's kind of strong right now as I've met his family and played around with his little kid.

"The offer is not official yet, but they've told me they want me there so I feel it will be a committable offer."

As for other teams showing early interest, Campbell is hearing from a couple.

"I've talked with the Illinois coach and he said they are looking to offer me soon," said Campbell. "I've also got Indiana and I'm planning on going down for a basketball game soon and for a spring practice."

Campbell's ability to play running back or slot makes him a dangerous offensive threat and even more teams will be coming after him in the coming months.
