Marshall played quarterback spectacularly at Middletown, but will begin his career as a wide receiver at Ohio State. Even with plenty of experienced players returning at Ohio State, Marshall figures to be in the mix for playing time from Day-One, and his ability to make tacklers miss will be invaluable to the Buckeye offense. Look for plenty of yards after the catch out of Marshall.
BREAKDOWN: The first time I saw Jalin Marshall was the first game of his junior season, and it was evident after his first few touches that he was a special player. Marshall is a player that has the ability to put the ball in the end zone from long distance, and he will flourish at the college level when he will be able to play in space, and not be the focal point of opposing defenses.- Bill Greene
A multi-faceted athlete, Marshall played quarterback for his Middletown team, but projects at either wide receiver or running back on the college level. He has exceptional change of direction and balance, and picks up the nuances of receiver quickly to add to his instinctive running ability. Elevates well in traffic and is tough going over the middle. Marshall is most dangerous after the catch. - Scott Kennedy
MARSHALL ON CHOOSING OHIO STATE: "Ohio State was just the right place for me, and it was home for me," he explained. "It's important to me to help recruit other great players to Ohio State, and I talked that over with (Buckeye commit) Cameron Burrows. When he committed, I already had it in mind to commit too, so he and I have talked about putting together the top recruiting class in America for next year. We are going to be recruiting other great players to Ohio State."
Head coach Urban Meyer has been the talk of the college football recruiting world since accepting the head coaching position at Ohio State. Marshall was impressed by the new Buckeye boss.
"Coach Meyer means a lot to me and I'm thrilled to be able to play for him," he noted. "We talked about all the players he's put into the NFL, and that meant a lot to me. This is a great opportunity for me to learn from such a great coach. I'm excited to play for Urban Meyer."
