BREAKDOWN: After seeing him at Ohio State's camp and also watching his film, it's apparent that Apple fits what the Buckeyes want to do defensively under head coach Urban Meyer.
Apple has long arms and has the ability to flip his hips in coverage, two of the most desirable traits in being able to play man-to-man on the corner. Apple compares favorably to former Buckeye Chris Gamble in size and athletic ability, and will get every opportunity to earn playing time as a true freshman. - Bill Greene
Apple On Choosing Ohio State: "I'm not really committing to the coaching staff as much as I am to the school," he explained. "Coaches can change jobs all the time, but Ohio State will always be Ohio State. I enjoyed all three head coaches and from the first time I went to Ohio State, I could see myself playing there. I just feel like I have to play college football for Ohio State. I've liked them since I was a kid, and I always loved watching Troy Smith, Ted Ginn, Malcolm Jenkins, James Laurinaitis, and all the great players. They were so much fun to watch, and I just fell in love with the Buckeyes."
"I'm very close with Coach Fickell, and I admire him very much for the type of person he is," he stressed. "He is such a die-hard Buckeye, and it says a lot about his character that he wanted to stay with Ohio State and Coach Meyer. He handled himself with such class throughout the past year, and you couldn't help being impressed by him. It was big for me to see that, and how much he loves Ohio State. That made an impression on me."
