Signing Day Impact: Ezekiel Elliott

Ohio State's got another positive note to its recruiting class Wednesday afternoon with running back Ezekiel Elliott's decision to attend OSU.

Note: Elliott confirmed his choice of OSU this afternoon at his high school. For more, stay tuned to

The Buckeyes locked up Ezekiel Elliott early in the process, then had to sweat a little bit in the end before the star tailback signed with Ohio State.

Elliott will find a crowded backfield at Ohio State, and he will be battling Carlos Hyde, Roderick Smith, Brionte Dunn and Warren Ball for playing time next season.

BREAKDOWN: Prototypical running back size to go with excellent top end speed. He can hit it hard in the middle between the tackles or he can pop it outside and bust off long touchdown runs. He is also a threat as a receiver coming out of the backfield. he has great hands and makes things happen in the passing game. A great all around back that uses his great vision, speed and quickness to it's full advantage. If he gets a crease he will score. - Greg Powers

The Opening Breakdown: No player may have grabbed my eye more so than Elliott. At a legit 6'0, 198 pounds and with a 4.42 40-yard dash and 4.12 pro-shuttle I put the talented Top 100 prospect down on my Top 6 future NFLer list. On the field in his tape he shows patience, explosion and touchdown play making ability and it was great to back up what you see in film with legit listed size and times. In the 7v7 competition he showed a no quit attitude and above average abilities as a pass-catcher. he moves well in space and has dependable hands. A well-rounded back who could play in any style of offense. - Greg Powers

Elliott On Choosing Ohio State: Ezekiel Elliott committed to Ohio State Sunday, while on an unofficial visit to the school. The four-star prospect becomes the sixth commit to the 2013 Buckeye recruiting class.

Elliott, 6-foot, 195-pounds, is from St. Louis John Burroughs School, and had an impressive offer list, including Notre Dame, Georgia, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn State, and others.

"I have committed to Ohio State," Elliott stated. "It was the right school for me, both for football and academically. I fell in love on my visit. Coach (Urban) Meyer is a great man, who is going to do great things for the program, and I want to be a part of it."
