Tigers offer four-star RB

On National Signing Day, this four-star running back from North Carolina was informed that he had a scholarship offer from Clemson.

Havelock High School junior Derrell Scott heard the news from his coach.

"I was pretty excited. [It's] surprising, because I haven't really heard much from them. But it's a really exciting offer. They're a real good team, a real good program. They beat really good teams this year, like LSU in the bowl game," Scott told CUTigers on Wednesday night.

Ranked by Scout.com as the No. 11 running back in the class of 2014, Scott has over 10 offers now. Among the schools to already come forward with an offer are South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech.

Last weekend, he visited South Carolina for the Gamecocks' first Junior Day, but has yet to schedule any other trips. Scott does have a few destinations in mind.

"I want to go to Florida. I want to go to Georgia. I want to go to Ohio State and Notre Dame, to see their school. I want to go to Clemson, now that they've offered me," he said.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound prospect likes a handful of schools.

"I like South Carolina, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Tennessee. Now that Clemson has offered, Clemson will be up there eventually," Scott listed.

Now, under a year until the class of 2014 signs, he isn't in a hurry to make any decisions.

"I'm just taking my time right now, keeping my options open and seeing what happens," Scott said.

Scott finished his junior season with 180 carries for 1,760 yards and 34 touchdowns. He also had 11 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

As a sophomore, Scott had over 1,800 yards rushing and 25 touchdowns.
