The 6-foot-6, 308-pound offensive lineman has scholarship offers from Ball State, Duke, East Carolina, Florida State, Indiana, North Carolina Central, North Carolina State, Ohio, UNC-Charlotte, and Virginia.
Other schools are also pursuing him.
Richardson made recent trips to North Carolina and North Carolina State.
"I got invited to N.C. State for their basketball game against UNC," he said. "They invited their top prospects. There were only seven or eight of us there. UNC – it was a junior day. There were a lot more people there. I think they said it was there top 22 prospects from 2014 and 2015."
Each school has impressed Richardson.
"I enjoyed myself in Chapel Hill," he said. "We visited Blue Zone and all the academic buildings. We also saw the football facilities, which I had seen most of them from going to games up there."
"The atmosphere at N.C. State was crazy, people were yelling. It was amazing – I liked it. But they basically did the same thing, just showed us a tour of the facilities and we ate lunch. It was really nice."
Four schools are out in front for Richardson.
"The schools standing out are Duke, N.C. State, UNC, and Virginia," Richardson said. "The main schools showing a lot of interest recently are UNC and N.C. State, though. I really liked N.C. State when…I liked it a lot."
"I would say N.C. State and UVA are my top two schools, followed by Duke and North Carolina."
Next up for Richardson will be possible trips to Louisville, Duke, East Carolina, Virginia, and UNC-Charlotte. Richardson said he will likely make return trips to North Carolina and N.C. State.
He said he plans the make his decision next January.
