2014: Maryland "Players to Know"

The 2014 recruiting season is front-and-center, and as we jump deep into it, FOXSportsNEXT takes you around the northeast region. The "Names to Know" series continues with the 2014 players in Maryland's class.

The 2013 class is signed and schools are digging into the 2014 class. FOXSportsNEXT continues its look around the region with a stop in Maryland and the will take a look at "Players to Know" in the 2014 class. Each player on this list holds offers, with many of them holding double digit verbal offers. Take at look at more than two dozen players (listed alphabetically) everyone should know in Maryland.

Marcus Allen, S, Wise High, Upper Marlboro, Md.
Skinny: Allen took in junior days at Pittsburgh and Maryland and wants to unofficially visit Clemson, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech and Rutgers. He is a big hitter and can play sideline-to-sideline.

Mark Allen, RB, DeMatha Catholic, Hyattsville, Md.
Skinny: The 5-foot-7, 185-pound standout was willing to jump on an offer early and he committed to Penn State months ago. He can play in the backfield, be split out and can also be a factor on special teams.

Jesse Aniebonam, DE, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Olney, Md.
Skinny: The big news came when Alabama recently extended an offer. Auburn has done the same and the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder has plenty of options with offers from Florida, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and South Carolina as well.

Freddy Canteen, WR, Eastern Christian Academy, Elkon, Md.
Skinny: ECA players would have a bunch more offers if their 2012 season wasn't derailed by paperwork issues in the state of Maryland. Canteen is a talented receiver with a handful of offers, and he impresses every time in 7-on-7s. But he has limited game film, which has slowed down his process.

Jared Cohen, OT, McDonogh School, Owings Mills, Md.
Skinny: Cohen grew up a Maryland fan and wanted to play for the Terps, so a few weeks after he was offered he became the first member of Maryland's 2014 class.

Neiko Creamer, WR, Eastern Christian Academy, Elkton, Md.
Skinny: The Tennessee Vols legacy has them in the lead, and he could commit there at any time. He missed the 2012 season with a torn ACL, but re-classified to the 2014 class and could have a bundle of offers if he shows he is healthy and waits longer to decide.

William Crest, QB, Dunbar High, Baltimore
Skinny: The dual-thread quarterback can sling it well, and also make a lot of yards with his feet. He holds a number of offers, including ones from Maryland, North Carolina, West Virginia and Virginia. A strong spring could see his offer list shoot up quickly.

Taiwan Deal, RB, DeMatha Catholic, Hyattsville, Md.
Skinny: Deal is a big-bodied running back (6-2, 220) who could do well in a pro-style offense, and is shows college coaches think similarly as Boston College, Connecticut, Iowa, Maryland, Tennessee and West Virginia are among the programs to extend offers.

Jamie Herr, OT, Eastern Christian Academy, Elkton, Md.
Skinny: Injuries and a shortened season kept Herr from getting more than just a few plays as a junior, but his offer list exploded lately as Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Connecticut and Boston College recently offered. At this point, Herr has Rutgers as his leader, but there should be plenty of other schools in play in the coming months.

Demetrius Johnson, OLB, Annapolis Christian School, Annapolis, Md.
Skinny: Johnson is long and athletic and is being recruited by schools to play either safety or outside linebacker. He's 6-2, 205, an holds offers from Hawaii, North Carolina State and Maryland, and is getting interest from Rutgers, Penn State, Miami, Boston College, Georgia and others.

Melvin Keihn, OLB, The Gilman School, Baltimore
Skinny: Keihn recently picked up an offer from Notre Dame, and he told FOXSportsNEXT earlier this month he was looking hard Virginia, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Maryland, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.

Sam Mustipher, OG, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Olney, Md.
Skinny: One of the top offensive linemen in the region, Mustipher's offer list is close to two dozen, with the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Wisconsin on it. At this point, Mustipher is talking about making all five of his visits before making a decision, but that could change at any time.

Damian Prince, OT, Bishop McNamara High, Forestville. Md.
Skinny: There are few schools Prince does not have an offer from, and the list could grow even more in the coming weeks. He likes Maryland, Ohio State, Rutgers, Alabama, Florida State and will be making trips, including a spring visit to Rutgers and also trips to several ACC schools.

Brock Ruble, DeMatha Catholic, Hyattsville, Md.
Skinny: Ruble has seen a steady stream of offers role through and now sits at double digits with a nice mix that includes schools from the ACC (Florida State, Virginia Tech, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh and Virginia), the SEC (South Carolina and Tennessee) and the Big East (Connecticut and Rutgers, which is moving to the Big Ten). Vashon Tucker, CB, Eastern Christian Academy, Elkton, Md.
Skinny: Tucker, like his teammates, needs to get more film out before the offers start pouring in but he has a nice start with Rutgers, Connecticut, Massachusetts, UCLA and Hawaii.

Troy Vincent Jr., CB, The Gilman School, Baltimore
Skinny: The son of former NFL cornerback Troy Vincent, the younger Troy has built up a nice collection of offers while starring for one of the state's top programs. Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina, Michigan State, Penn State, Rutgers, West Virginia and Wisconsin, where his dad played, each have extended offers.
