Black Talks About Black & Gold Basketball

Posibly the top basketball prospect in the class of 2014 spoke with recently about his current recruiting status and happenings, including his thoughts on the Missouri Tigers, and where they possibly fit into it.

Recently, after two of his Team Thad teammates visited Missouri, spoke with 2014 PF prospect Leron Black 6'8" 200 Memphis (TN) White Station, another Team Thad member with a Missouri offer.

Black is the most highly sought after of the four Team Thad members that currently hold Missouri offers.

Black currently holds offers from Baylor, Connecticut, Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Memphis, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina State, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Texas. He also named Georgia Tech, and Florida as schools of interest.

Black and some of his Team Thad teammates visited Missouri last summer.

Black said that he “likes Missouri”, and of his relationship with Missouri Assistant Tim Fuller, Black said, “We cool”. He knows current Missouri senior Laurence Bowers “pretty well”, saying that he and Bowers “used to work out together”. Black said that he’s planning to take an official visit to Missouri. He also said that he’s “open right now” regarding his decision, and has not yet narrowed things down. He said that he’ll “probably sign in November”.

“I’m just going to keep praying (about it), and just let God lead me to where he wants me,” said Black, talking about his decision process.

Black went on to talk about what he’s looking for in a destination school.

“I’m looking for a good academic program,” explained Black. “When I play, I like to run, so I’d like (to be on) a team that’s going to run. I’d like a team that has Christian values, and that has other Christians on the team.”

Black said that playing in college with some of his Team Thad teammates would be appealing to him.

Earlier this week, I spoke to Black’s Team Thad coach Norton Hurd, who said that “Missouri is in (Black’s) top five” schools.
