New Offer Intrigues Pike

Cincinnati (Ohio) Elder tight end Devin Pike is starting to pick up steam and looking forward to visiting several colleges since his basketball season has ended. FOXSportsNEXT.com has the latest.

After a slow start Cincinnati (Ohio) Elder tight end Devin Pike is starting to see interest and offers from several programs.

His newest offer is from a program Pike has seen play several times over the past few years.

"Louisville offered me," said Pike. "The offer was great news as they are a pretty good program. So it was great to hear they offered. I've not gone down there lately, but I'm just starting to get around and visiting some colleges with basketball over."

While Pike watched older brother Tony (former Cincinnati QB) battle the Cardinals in years past, a visit this past season gave him a new sense of what Charlie Strong is building.

"I went down there during the football season to see them play Kentucky," said Pike. "It was pretty neat there and it's pretty big knowing their program is building well and becoming one of the national powers."

Pike looks forward to visiting soon and strength his relationship with his recruiting coach and the Cardinals staff.

"I'm talking with Coach (Shawn) Watson and feel I'm building a solid relationship with him the few times I've spoke with him," explained Pike. "But I want to get down there sometime and meet all the coaches and see what they have building up in the next few years and how they plan on using the tight end.

"I also want to see all their facilities."

Joining the Cardinals with early offers are Illinois, Bowling Green, Toledo and Western Michigan. All programs Pike hopes to visit soon.

"I definitely want to visit Illinois and Northwestern," said Pike. "I also want to visit the other programs that have offered and I'm looking at Purdue and Virginia as well."
