Sorrell set to see Nebraska

The tight end position is critical in the 2014 class for Nebraska. A player who could pick up a Nebraska offer soon at the tight end position is Chance Sorrell. Sorrell will be in Lincoln on Wednesday to see what the Huskers have to offer.

Chance Sorrell will be on spring break this week, but there won't be much of a break at all. The Middleton (Ohio) tight end will embark on a very aggressive visit schedule starting on Monday traveling to all of these places by driving with his family.

"I will be on spring break next week," Sorrell said. "I will visit Nebraska on Wednesday. I will be there just for the day because I am hitting four schools that week. Monday I go to Purdue, Tuesday I go to Michigan, Wednesday at Nebraska and Thursday I have to be at Ohio State."

Sorrell says that he's looking for an offense that really features the tight end position. He says that he wants to also get an idea about how the coaches work with their players as well as getting a chance to see the facilities and meet the strength coaches.

"I am hoping to see that these schools run a lot of tight end, that the scheme would fit, see how the coaches coach, the facilities and to get to know the strength coaches. I am looking more for that wide kind of tight end that is big and physical."

Sorrell has good size at 6-foot-6 and 250-pounds and when you couple that with his age there is a pretty good chance that he's not done growing yet. In fact, a couple of schools have made it clear that they like Sorrell on the offensive line while the others want to see where his body takes him.

"Playing offensive tackle is a definite possibility," Sorrell said. "Two schools have told me that they will not be recruiting me as a tight end and will only recruit me as a tackle. Those two schools are Tennessee and Ohio State.

"A lot of the schools are just telling me that they will see where my body goes. I am only 16 years old. I could be done growing really, but if I kept growing I could play tackle wherever I go. I don't have a preference. I will play where a school needs me."

To go along with an impressive frame Sorrell also has good strength for a guy his size. He thinks that with his size and strengths he can help any team set the edge of their offensive line and still be a guy that can go and catch passes.

"I think that I have good physical strength; just being bigger and stronger. I think that I could be a guy that could set the edge blocking as well as being a guy that can work the short to intermediate routes."

The trip to Nebraska next week will be mostly about finding out more about the school. Sorrell got a link to a video online from Nebraska and it really impressed him. He wants to find out a lot more about what the Huskers have to offer him.

"I don't know that much about Nebraska. I know that I watched one of their recruiting videos, because I get a lot of mail from them, and we really liked what we saw with the facilities and it seems that they like technology. Besides that I don't know a lot.

"After those couple or few things that I did see the trip is honestly to learn more about them and get a feel for them. We honestly just don't know enough about them."
