"I was definitely excited," said the son of former NFL star Ed McCaffrey. "I'm really glad they offered. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow my relationship with their coaches."
Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman delivered the news to McCaffrey.
"I had spoke to Coach Herman before, but I gave him a call and this time he told me they wanted to offer me a scholarship," the four-star prospect explained. "He said that they will be busy with the spring evaluations, but that they will make it out to my school."
McCaffrey is still early in his decision-making process and is still considering many schools.
"I have about eight or nine schools that are standing out, but none more than the rest," the 6-foot, 190 pound back stated. "Ohio State is one of them. I hope to visit all of them, and I'll be at Oregon and Washington this weekend."
Ohio State already has a running back committed despite the offer to McCaffrey. They let the Colorado native know where they expected him to perform.
"They said I would be in their running back room," McCaffrey said. "They said they have backs that are 235 pounds and some that are 175 pounds and that I fit in the middle of those. They see me as a guy that can do multiple things on the field for them."
