Harris Lands Buckeye Offer

Ohio State has issued offers to two 2014 quarterback prospects this week, as both Kyle Allen and Brandon Harris heard good news from the Buckeye staff. Harris discussed his recruitment with FOXSportsNEXT.

Ohio State had been chasing Georgia quarterback Deshaun Watson for nearly a year. But when the four-star signal caller announced he was shutting his process down and remaining committed to Clemson, the Buckeyes were forced to look elsewhere.

After offering Scottsdale, Arizona quarterback Kyle Allen yesterday, Urban Meyer and his staff have now extended a scholarship to Bossier City (LA) Parkway QB Brandon Harris.

"Yes, Ohio State offered me," said Harris. "Urban Meyer called my coach and gave him the news."

Harris was not bashful about what an offer from Ohio State meant to him.

"I'm excited," he explained. "That's one I wanted to land. I'm very happy."

Texas A&M also pulled the trigger on an offer to Harris yesterday. They would seem to be a tough team to beat for Harris' services, but he told Scout that he plans to pay the Buckeyes a visit.

Derek's Take: With another being issued to a quarterback today, it may be a two-horse race going forward. Not many times does a situation arise where it is first to commit, but that may be the case in this situation. If Harris wants to consider Ohio State seriously, his visit may have to happen sooner or later. Both Allen and Harris are heavily interested in Ohio State. The year that passed by without Urban Meyer sending out another scholarship at the position has done nothing to hurt their chances with either of the prospects.
