Recruiting News and Notes 9/5

This edition of recruiting news and notes details information on some of the top targets on Ohio State's board, upcoming visitors, and new offers that have been sent out.

Three notable visitors are confirmed for Ohio State's tilt against San Diego State on Saturday. The Buckeyes will host a 2014 prospect on an official visit and receive unofficial visits from two in-state 2015 prospects on their radar.

Sparta (NJ) wideout Noah Brown will take his first official visit of his recruitment to Ohio State this weekend. The four-star receiver is between Rutgers and the Buckeyes. The trip to Columbus is a spectacular sign for Ohio State and a commitment following the visit would not surprise me.

2015 Columbus (OH) Walnut Ridge linebacker Anthony McKee and 2015 LaGrange (OH) Keystone tight end C.J. Conrad will both arrive in Columbus on Saturday to see Ohio State's second game of the season. Both prospects have caught the eye of the Buckeyes' staff early on.

LATEST ON Johnnie Dixon

The talented four-star wide receiver from Florida has a top three of Alabama, Miami, and Ohio State. He will take all five official visits and the Buckeyes get their chance in late September over the weekend they are set to host Wisconsin at night.

I think the official visits will tell the tale with Dixon, much like they did with Vonn Bell last winter. Ohio State is squarely in the mix.

Chicago (IL) De La Salle offensive tackle and Buckeyes' commit received his Under Armour All-America jersey this week. He will play in the game in early January. Jones is still recovering from a shoulder injury and should be back on the field in the next few weeks.

Jacques Patrick NOTE

Ohio State has been in the discussion for the elite 2015 running back for a while but their chances were dwindled after Patrick's brother, a 2014 prospect, committed to Florida State a little over a month ago.

That has all changed. Ohio State is back in the mix after Patrick's brother, Javonte Seabury, de-committed from Florida State and committed to Florida International. Urban Meyer has a strong relationship with the 2015 Scout 300 prospect already.

Another standout in the 2015 class is Saginaw (MI) Heritage wide receiver Brian Cole. Cole is rated as the fourth best wideout in the first 2015 rankings.

Michigan and Michigan State have done a terrific job early on in trying to keep Cole near home but the Buckeyes are preparing to put up quite the fight. Urban Meyer had a long conversation with Cole recently and will not go away quietly.

As September 1 came and passed on the recruiting calendar, the Ohio State staff began hard at work with the 2015 prospects across the country. It was evidence by the five offers that went out this week.

Darian Roseboro, Maurice Smitherman, Preston Williams, Chuma Edoga, and Josh Sweat all received scholarship offers from the Buckeyes this week.

Edoga has mentioned possibly visiting Ohio State with his teammate, Taj Griffin, who also has a Buckeyes offer.

Smitherman hopes to visit the Buckeyes' campus after his season and Preston Williams lists Ohio State among his favorites and would like to visit as well.
