Burgess-Becker gets Buckeye offer

Junior athlete Shawn Burgess-Becker recently picked up an offer from Ohio State. It was an offer he had been waiting on.

Coconut Creek (FL) Monarch four-star junior Shawn Burgess-Becker has plenty of noteworthy offers but picked up another early on yesterday from Ohio State.

"Urban Meyer came by my school," said Burgess-Becker. "He brought his receivers coach with him and informed me and my coach of the offer. The receivers coach came with him so they probably want me to play offense but I really don't know. I'd say they like me just as an athlete right now."

The offer holds some significance to the fifth best safety in the 2015 class. Burgess-Becker has had his eyes on Ohio State.

"They are a very good team," he said of the Buckeyes. "The Ohio State offer is one I've been waiting for for a long time. I have a couple big offers but I was waiting on the Ohio State one and I got it. It was the last one left that I wanted. Urban Meyer coming was pretty exciting for me as well. They are one of my top schools."

"Urban Meyer is a good coach," Burgess-Becker added. "He did big things at Florida. He's winning at Ohio State like he did at Florida. He has sent a lot of great players to the next level and that's something I pay attention to."

Is a visit to Columbus to see the Buckeyes in his plans?

"It's a school I'd like to visit," admitted Burgess-Becker. "It's a bit tougher to get to but I think I could make the trip to see Ohio State over the summer. I wouldn't necessarily call Ohio State a dream school but I definitely wanted the option of going there."

Burgess-Becker plans on holding off a college decision until Signing Day for the 2015 class.
