Junior Tight End Picks Up Buckeye Offer

2015 Avon (CT) Old Farms tight end Chris Clark added a Buckeye offer to his collection. Ohio State is already standing out early to Clark.

Avon (CT) Old Farms tight end Chris Clark has been a busy man on the recruiting trail recently. He's picked up a number of offers including one from Ohio State.

The 2015 northeast prospect talked about his reaction to the good news from the Buckeyes.

"I hadn't heard much about Ohio State before that happened," Clark said. "It was kind of shocking that they were even interested. I was offered same day. It was really exciting and it all happened fast."

Clark explained the quick process that lead to the scholarship offer from Ohio State.

"It was weird," he admitted. "I got a message from Mark Pantoni and he said that he saw my highlight tape and thought it was awesome. He told me that he was going to show it to their tight ends coach Tim Hinton. It was going to be later because they had practices for the bowl game."

"After Hinton saw it, Pantoni messaged me again and said to give Coach Hinton a call," Clark continued. "That's when I was notified about my offer."

Hinton talked to Clark about what he saw from his film that motivated him to send an offer his way.

"He (Tim Hinton) said that I'm a tight end that can stretch field vertically," Clark explained. "He said that I can also do damage after the catch which they really liked. I'm physical too which you have to be at Ohio State."

The Buckeye offer was well received by Clark. Ohio State is a school he's definitely interested in.

"It's an awesome program," Clark mentioned. "We know how Urban has turned it around down there. It's an elite program again. They had a tough loss but they are still one of the best. I haven't visited Ohio State yet but I plan on it. In the next few months I'm going to check out Ohio State and see what it's like with my family."

Ohio State has had many of its coaches emphasizing the northeastern portion of the United States in regards to recruiting. Clark has taken notice.

"I have seen that Ohio State has recruited my area hard," he noted. "Even though I play in Connecticut, I am from New Jersey. I know Noah Brown. He's going there. They have Curtis Samuel going there too and he's from Brooklyn, New York. There is good football players around here."

Clark has a few schools standing out early in his process. He admitted that it could change but three schools have emerged for him.

"The schools that stick out to me right now on my offer list are Georgia, Arizona State, and Ohio State," he pointed out. "They are sticking out more than the others right now."
