Saint Paul (MN) Cretin Durham Hall defensive end Jashon Cornell is among the top prospects in the entire midwest region for the 2015 class. The 6-4, 245 pound junior commented on the recent departure of Ohio State assistant Mike Vrabel.
"It's crazy but he deserves it," Cornell said of Vrabel's NFL opportunity. "He's a great coach. I learned coaches come and go already. It's going to happen so you just have to deal with it."
Despite the loss of defensive line coach Mike Vrabel, one of Ohio State's best recruiters, the Buckeyes should remain in the mix for the junior pass rusher from Minnesota.
"I really liked Coach Vrabel but him leaving won't hurt Ohio State at all moving ahead to the future," Cornell told Scout. "Coaches come and go and it's still a great school. I'm looking forward to getting on campus for a visit to meet the next one."
Cornell will look to take some visits in the Spring and has a few in mind.
"I'll be visiting Florida, Florida State, and Miami, I think," he pointed out. "I haven't been to Ohio State yet either and I'm hoping to make it there for a junior day in March."
Notre Dame, Iowa, and Michigan have all put themselves in a good position early on for Cornell but he made it clear that his recruitment was still wide open.
"I don't have a top list of any kind," Cornell pointed out. "I'm going to narrow it down after I take some more visits."
Jashon Cornell is one of the top players in the Midwest and is rated as a four-star prospect. He's rated as the nation's 10th best defensive end in the 2015 class.
Quick Hitter: Jashon Cornell
