OSU Instant Impact: Marcelys Jones

Another of the members of the Ohio State 2014 recruiting class is in the fold. Early enrollee Marcelys Jones is officially a Buckeye.

Marcelys Jones

SCHOOL: Cleveland Glenville

SIZE: 6-foot-3, 345-pounds

POSITION RANKING: Number-39 guard

SCOUTING REPORT: Has the feet and frame needed to compete at the college level. Had an up and down senior season, and played mostly defensive line for Glenville. That level of play continued in San Antonio at the Army Bowl, where he had some good moments mixed in with some not so good moments. The hope is that a year of maturity and some significant weight loss helps him develop into a contributor at Ohio State.

WHY Ohio STATE: "It's a blessing for me and my whole family, and we are all very happy," he added. "Coach Meyer said it was a great Christmas present for him, and he said he was very excited. He was joking with me that (Ohio State commit) Donovan Munger was beating me up all the time, and he wanted to know who was the tougher cousin. I told him Donovan was pretty tough, but he's not beating me up."

"He then got serious and told me that it was a big responsibility, being the first commit in the next class," Jones continued. "He told me to keep working, and he was happy to welcome me to the Buckeye family."
