Edwards Makes The Call for OSU

Jacksonville (FL) Trinity Christian safety Ben Edwards made the decision today to commit to Ohio State. He becomes the third pledge of the class and credits his relationship with coaches Tim Hinton and Chris Ash as being a large reason why.

Jacksonville (FL) Trinity Christian safety Ben Edwards has made the call to commit to Ohio State. He picked the Buckeyes over other offers from Auburn, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, Stanford, UCLA, and Notre Dame.

"I'm very excited," Edwards said. "I'm fired up. I'm just happy to be a Buckeye."

Edwards received his offer from Ohio State a little over a month ago and discusses what made him want to make the early decision.

"I have a great relationship with their coaches," he said of the Buckeyes. "I call Coach Hinton and Coach Ash every week. They've been pushing for this commitment a lot lately. They love my style of play. They want me to come in and play early when I get up there. It's a big time program and they always win almost every game and it's where I want to be."

The three-star safety visited Ohio State last summer and didn't have an offer at the time. He spoke about that visit and how it pushed him to considering the Buckeyes more and more.

"It was a beautiful place," Edwards told Scout. "It was a very nice campus. The facilities are very nice. All the coaches they have are cool. It was overall a great visit."

"I'm done with visiting other schools," he added. "I will only be visiting Ohio State."

The newest Ohio State commit in the 2015 class is already thinking about playing a role in building the class.

"I'm going to recruit my tail off for Ohio State," Edwards stated. "Kevin Toliver and Jeffery Holland will be my main targets. I'm going to try and get them to come along with me."
