LSU a finalist for four-star OT

Four-star offensive tackle Drew Richmond included LSU among his finalists. He announced Monday his Top 11 schools and the date he'll commit. TSD has more details.

Four-star offensive tackle Drew Richmond (Memphis, Tenn.) announced Monday his Top 11 schools, and LSU is among the finalists.

Richmond included the Tigers as one of his leaders along with Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Memphis, North Carolina, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and UCLA. That list is in no particular order.

"There's a big chance of coming in and competing for the job early," Richmond said of why LSU is one of his contenders.

LSU first offered Richmond last October, when former OL coach Greg Studrawa was still on staff. Jeff Grimes took over that coaching position but kept Richmond on the board and continued to recruit him.

The Tigers have built a strong enough relationship with him over the last six months to stay in the mix, and Richmond will announce his commitment on Sept. 9. He chose that date to honor a late friend, who passed away in 2009.

According to Scout's Chad Simmons, Richmond has visits planned to Auburn, Clemson and Tennessee. He has also seen Ole Miss and Alabama recently. The goal for LSU will be to get him campus, likely this summer, in order to sell him on what the Tigers have to offer.

The offensive line, especially tackle, will be a tremendous focus for LSU in the Class of 2015, and Coach Grimes has been hard at work identifying the players he wants. TSD detailed the focus on LSU's OL recruiting in this rundown of the offensive targets on LSU's Big Board.
