Commitment Watch For Kilby-Lane?

Ohio State and head coach Urban Meyer will be hosting Hallandale (FLA) linebacker Sh'mar Kilby-Lane this weekend on an unofficial visit. The Buckeye spring game has been a positive recruiting tool in the past. Is a commitment on the horizon?

Scout.com has confirmed that Hallandale linebacker Sh'mar Kilby-Lane will be at Ohio State this weekend for the Buckeye spring football game.

Kilby-Lane, 6-foot-2, 217-pounds, is a four-star prospect that has attracted quite an offer list in addition to Ohio State, including most of the top programs in America.

"Sh'mar will be at Ohio State this weekend for their spring game, with his family and myself," Hallandale head coach Dameon Jones stated Sunday morning. "I know he likes Ohio State, but I'm not sure if he will commit or not."

MY TAKE: I've had this player on commitment watch since he visited Ohio State's Orange Bowl practice in Miami last January. Kilby-Lane hates doing the interviews, which Scout.com respects totally.

There are several people close to the player that are also very close with both head coach Urban Meyer and player personnel director Mark Pantoni at Ohio State, which gives the Buckeyes a huge edge with Kilby-Lane.

Although a commitment might not take place during the visit, and all parties concerned could want to return to Florida to discuss matters, a commitment this weekend would not be all that surprising.

I believe Ohio State is the school of choice for Kilby-Lane, and this visit with both his family and his head coach is mainly to validate his decision. I do see the player signing with Ohio State next February on National Signing Day.
