This is absolutely not an attempt to predict the 2015 class, which would be foolishly impossible at this time, but rather a current snapshot at each position group.
Let's take a look at the defensive side of the football in this article.
DEFENSIVE TACKLE: There is a lot of conflicting information out there on Tim Settle, and I'm not sure where things stand with him and Ohio State. Hard to think there wouldn't be a connection between Larry Johnson and the player. Christian Wilkins is still in the picture, and we are waiting to see if there is a summer visit.- Young.
I'm not at all optimistic about Elijah Taylor, but at least he is working through the process and giving schools a chance. Ohio State had him for two days, and if there's a return trip soon it would be a positive indicator. Let's see what Taylor does with visits over the next six weeks or so. - Greene.
DEFENSIVE ENDS: Ohio State is in the mix with Josh Sweat and I think they can get him. Not optimistic on Jashon Cornell, and I think things are cooling with Terry Beckner. Darius Fullwood would be the highest possibility for me, and he could commit within the next month. - Young.
I thought a commitment was possible for Dre'Mont Jones at the spring game, but it didn't happen. I still have Jones in the class, but Notre Dame might get a visit out of him which could slow the commitment process. Regardless, I have Dre'Mont Jones in the Ohio State recruiting class. - Greene.
LINEBACKER: I think things went really well with Ricky DeBerry and I think Ohio State really impressed him. I don't think anything would happen with him until after the official visits though. I'm not real optimistic on Justin Hilliard at all. Not seeing Jeff Holland at all. I like their chances with Jerome Baker a lot. Maybe Nick Conner has a chance. - Young.
I STILL have Sh'mar Kilby-Lane to Ohio State, sometime in May. I have Jerome Baker to Ohio State, probably in late summer. I think Justin Hilliard goes to Notre Dame. I have Nick Conner and Anthony McKee on the outside looking in. Once they lock up two, Ohio State can chase studs for the third guy, or stick with two. - Greene.
SAFETY: I still think Jamel Dean is a safety for Ohio State. Will Sunderland is a new name, but I think he really favors Oklahoma. Hate to keep bringing up Kendrell McFadden, but I do not see him at West Virginia.- Young.
An off the wall possibility at safety could be Massillon's Reggie Rogers, and Ohio State has shown him a lot of love lately. He would need a huge camp to land an offer, but he just might fit athletically. - Greene.
CORNERBACK: They are in on Jordan Whitehead, but I think Ohio State trails Penn State for him. No chance with Kevin Tolliver. Cameron Ordway could be really interesting, and he's supposed to visit in June. There could be new names popping up during this evaluation process. - Young.
I still think Denzel Ward fits athletically with what Ohio State is looking for, but he is another in-state player that will need a monster camp performance. Agree 100% that we will be seeing new defensive back candidates in the picture over the next few months.- Greene.
